Sorry — pretty reluctant to do that at this point, because I am running classes right now. I will not conclude the classes until the end of August.

I am using the Leaderboard and the Reports plugin, as well as the Sensei Add-on. As far as I can tell, what is creating the duplicate form is when the administrator is logged in and making a comment (on the dashboard view) before approving the badge.

    Sorry for delayed response!

    Michael,
Thanks for your consideration of the issue. I appreciate you putting the idea out there. It would be great if something evolves from it:)

    Hi, Michael.

I understand. Maybe there is a way to create a settings panel that allows for turning on and off who can see what. In fact, the plugin I am using to keep posts private in BuddyPress, does just that. Do you know about BuddyPress Activity Privacy plugin? https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/buddypress-activity-privacy/

    Thanks for your consideration.

    Hi.

After more investigating, I learned that this duplicate thing appears to occur only when there is a comment added on the backend (dashboard) when approving the nomination.

    Short Code: [badgeos_nomination achievement_id=808]

Settings: Just achieve by nomination, can earn only 1 time; 15 points

    Michael,
It’s a bummer that it needs to be so technical. The hope with BadgeOS for the education community is that it is an open source tool that is easy enough to use, that the average educator could take it, make it and go — DIY, basically. There are too many technical hoops at this point to make is DIY.

Not sure who to give this feedback to, but I suggest this be something that is a setting option in the community add-on plugin, making the achievements earned private. Any online learning community will want to protect privacy for its learners.

    Thanks,
    Sarah

Yep, I am certain. There is a dropdown menu listing users to nominate in duplicate. AND, not only does this appear on the original user who made the nomination, but now on the general nomination page for the achievement, the form appears in duplicate.

Glad you are the ghosthunter — you have the fortitude it seems! ?? It keeps life challenging at any rate!

I will be interested to hear if Justin’s goes away. Don’t want to go it alone with all the happy fixes.

    Michael,
Now that I have updated to 1.5.2, the problem is not occurring. Not sure if this is the fix, but I will keep you posted if I encounter the challenge again. Thanks for the time you spent. I see all the steps now on old badges I created, where the steps were not visible before the update. It’s a mystery I supposed. At least I’m not the only one who experienced this, or it would sound like I am crazy, LOL.

Yes, most definitely saving before publishing. The steps appear on the published page. AND, if you go back after publishing to edit the steps, it’s as if they are gone. If you are silly enough to add more steps, and then update, then the previous steps PLUS the new ones will appear, and so forth.

I just sent you login credentials. Thanks for jumping in!

I am using Sensei 1.5.1. This was a problem before the update to BadgeOS 1.3.5, by the way, at least for me. Thanks for checking this out.

OMG. This is amazing news! Thank you for letting me know:) And thank you for taking the request so seriously — this is a huge work flow need. You will make some very hard-working educators ecstatic. I am working with some really smart education innovators and they are super excited about badge learning and the BadgeOS tool. They have about 45 6th students learning together, earning badges and growing their digital media literacies. It is quite cool.

    Thank you!

Thanks, Michael. Glad to be heard. I am working with schools who really appreciate the features of the plugin and want to continue to extend their use of it and enrich learning for their students.

Actually, the shortcode is not sufficient. When I use the shortcode to look at submissions for deny/approve, if an achievement is denied, the submission is difficult to find again AND the deny/approve buttons are disappear after an item has been denied. Basically, if the item gets resubmitted, there is no way of approving or denying the work because buttons are not present.

I am using the plugin for some hardcore learning in the K-12 setting for both professional development and with middle school students. I see this as the most pressing “glitch” in the software, quite frankly. It must be user-friendly to folks who are less tech-savvy (like educators who need a nice WYSIWYG interface). They aren’t going to have the skills or the wherewithal to tinker in the way that I am. Ultimately, this will deter folks from wanting to use the interface and the fun game-layer plugins and badge issuing/making tool, leading them to seek out other tools and interfaces available.

Hi, the deny button does not function properly. I have tested this out at length, both from the dashboard’s submissions queue and from a list of submissions created via shortcode and viewable on the front end of the site.

In the Dashboard, if something is denied, the person trying to earn the denied badge will generate (2) submission boxes at the end of their work, which makes it quite confusing — which one to use.

On the front end, using a list of submissions from shorcode, if a badge is denied and a student resubmits the work, the “approve” and “deny” buttons do not appear again in the submissions queue.

At the moment, the only solution is to not use the deny button at all. Any developments on this one?
