In reply to: Good UK WP Host? Why do you want a host based in the UK? Unless you plan on visiting them onsite it’s not going to make much of a difference.
I live in the UK and use Dreamhost and am perfectly happy with them. If you really want a UK host, the aptly named UKHost4U looks promising, although I can’t personally vouch for them.
Chances are with UK costs being what they are, you’re going to get a better deal by going across the pond.

In reply to: Doug Bowman (stopdesign.com) is offering his photo templates!I’m dreaming of this being ported to WordPress as well. It really does look stunning.
Supposedly somebody has already picked up the challenge but I can’t see it being an easy task considering all the MT specific plugins it requires. We can but hope.

In reply to: Error establishing a database connection (time to time)I was getting regular network errors on my site (hosted by Dreamhost) awhile ago.
I reported the errors to Dreamhost and after a bit of to and fro they decided to change me to a different server. No more network errors. No wiser as to the cause of the problem but at least it’s not a problem anymore.
So basically contact your host. Help them by documenting your errors and taking screenshots (just in case they don’t believe you!).

In reply to: Contact Form PluginCan I ask what has been adapted to require a new plugin?
I’m using the same plugin and managed to tweak it by just tinkering with the CSS somewhat.

In reply to: First WordPress SiteThere are some good del.icio.us plugins available, which makes installing it on WordPress a breeze.
I’m using the aptly named Delicous Plugin on my site and it works just fine.

In reply to: First WordPress SiteThe design itself is very nice but doesn’t seem to fit the content. A few more images would definitely go down well.
You might also want to think about adding links to the latest cricket news from around the web on your site. Using del.icio.us and putting the links in your sidebar would work very well. It would compliment your commentary and help your site feel up to date.

In reply to: Sidebar (Headers) replacing with graphicsThis is the code I’ve used to add images to my sidebar:
<h2><?php _e(‘<img src=”/wp-content/images/title_about.gif” border=”0″ alt=”about” />’); ?></h2>
Although I’m sure, like Kafkaesqui said, just adding the image link will work fine…and is a lot cleaner!

In reply to: WP-shortstat – BorkedThank you for pointing that out Dgold.
I’ve been tearing my hair out trying to get ShortStat to work!
Do you know if there are any planned updates in the pipeline? I would love to be able to run both plugins together.

In reply to: Live Comment Preview and DreamHostI’ve recently switched to Dreamhost and have only just realised Live Comment Preview isn’t working for me either! Odd, as it was working with my previous host.
I’m running PHP-CGI as well. Must be a DH specific issue.

In reply to: Going from Dreamhost to 1and1 – multiple problemsSeems to be working for me.
(and very nice site by the way)

In reply to: . s i l e n c e . – my idyllI like it. But I feel the light grey text against the grey background image makes the text hard to read, especially with the small font size.

In reply to: Give me feedbackThere’s nothing wrong with clean but like Usayed said, you haven’t really done much to the template so there’s not much to comment on.
If you want to stick with the header image as it as, I would change the background colour and link colour to make the theme more “unified”.

In reply to: How do you guys keep track of traffic?I’ll join in again. I like StatCounter. Not a plugin but easy enough to install (just add the relevant code to somewhere like your footer.php). The results are fairly comprehensive and are displayed in a nice simple manner.

In reply to: Is mysite.com/index.php/about/ good enough for google???I wrote a little about my experiences with the google sitemap on my site.
I don’t see it as a bad thing. I don’t think there’s a huge benefit to be had apart from helping google index your site.

In reply to: Livesearch & 1.5.2Still working for me…and I followed your tutorial ??
Just tried it on your site and it seems to be working fine.
