Basically, I firewalled off the entire world with the exception of USA IP ranges and I was still finding egress traffic to Japan, Asia, Russia, Singapore, etc when analyzing network logs. So that meant all the traffic had to be originating from the server itself. So I started shutting off plugins to find the culprit. This turned out to be it.

GCP charges you for egress traffic which price varies depending on the region.
My machine is located in one of Google’s Salt Lake City datacenters, so I was seeing daily charges for “Network Internet Egress from Salt Lake City to APAC”.

I will schedule a plugin reinstall but I am not really sure how that would solve the problem unless a version of your plugin was compromised at one time.

Again, all this traffic stopped as soon as I disabled the plugin.

Solved this for now. There is a bug in 2.5.5. I rolled back to 2.5.4 from my VaultPress backup. Making a note not to install 2.5.5 again.

It’s probably js minification. Set an exclusion for square.js and see if it gets better. Otherwise, just turn off minification completely.

I actually just figured this out…

Square expects a value in the second address line (verification_details.billing_contact.address_lines[1]).
I had this address line set to “Hidden” in Customizing ? WooCommerce ? Checkout. After changing the field to “Optional” the transaction now correctly processes.

I had the exact same problem.
At woocommerce checkout, the order summary and payment options just spin.
As soon as I disabled this plugin, all was well.

I purged all cache, disabled plugins and even changed my name servers to bypass Cloudflare to no avail.

Also, its not just the checkout screen.
The Enable AJAX add to cart buttons on archives option also breaks.

Having the same problem since switching to 2.0.0 and still on 2.0.1.
