>>See here, https://www.satollo.net/plugins/newsletter/subscription-module, on paragraph “Use the blog theme for subscription steps”.<<
Thanks. I just read the instructions and tried again. I deleted the settings I had entered for the two custom landing pages for initial subscription and for acknowledging confirmation and then entered a page to use as the catchall page in the “WordPress page URL for messages” field.
Oddly enough this time it worked, even though I was using the same page as I had before. I think that I must have entered the URL for the catchall page incorrectly or something, the first time I tried this.
Thanks!
Whoops, wait a minute: although it doesn’t look like it’s linked text in the “save and send” window, the message that is actually sent DOES have the excerpt as linked text. That works.
Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Hi jbx: Thanks for trying to help, I appreciate it.
I did what you said to do: the key line of code is this one, it used to say:
” style=”color:#000;text-decoration:none;align:center” target=”_blank”><?php the_excerpt(); ?>
and I changed it to say:
But that didn’t help: the excerpt is rendered as linked text in the “new message” window, but after you save it it renders as unlinked text in the “Save and send” window.
<sigh>

(please ignore this, I didn’t mean to post a second time)
Ok, for now I’m going to just use custom landing pages. It would be nice to understand how the “WordPress page URL for messages” field is supposed to work, though. If everything could be sent through one page, that would be great!

Note also: I’m experimenting with different pages and entries in those fields, so right now if you were to try to test it with the URLs I provided above, you might not see what I originally intended you to see.

More info: I just noticed that there is a field for “WordPress page URL for messages” on the General tab in the Subscription settings page for Newsletter.
Is it possible to use both of these fields? Are they somehow in conflict with each other?
– Tim
I’ll mark this as “resolved”. Thank you for your help!
Thanks! That did the trick.
I am beginning to suspect that this may be a result of conflicts with the theme that I’m using on https://www.AgeAssistance.com, which is the Avada theme. I’m using Avada version 1.0.9
Are there known issues with the Avada theme when using the Newsletter plugin? I have been told by another plugin developer that they have encountered conflicts with the Avada theme due to some javascript issue(s).
Thanks again. I think that “completes” this topic.
Thank you for taking time to help. I have come up with a solution based on your suggestions. Brilliant!
I understand. That’s an interesting suggestion. I’ll experiment with that.
What I’m trying to do is make sure that users of iphones can read our blog posts in the newsletter emails as easily as possible.
Thanks!
Hi again –
I’m very sorry, you’re right, I did remove it. I have put it back, now it’s in the sidebar on our blog page and blog posts, at the bottom of the sidebar.
Thank you very much for your help. I really like this plugin and I appreciate your help.
Of course! I should have thought of that to begin with!
It’s one our Blog page at https://www.ageassistance.com/blog/
Thanks!
