In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Fetching cornerstone content via the Rest APIThank you, that’s very helpful @trek7k. I’ll try it!
@jonoaldersonwp I get your reasoning, you’re probably right it’s a good idea to include it. It doesn’t take much effort doing so, and it’ll make sure the schema is properly read by different consumers. Thank you for taking the time to reply, it’s much appreciated
I have filed a bug report now. Thank you @mikes41720
Hi @mikes41720
Thank you for getting back to me. What I wondered was more like, is this really needed? Are you sure that your docs are correct in this regard? Or would it suffice only adding inLanguage for the parent property and then this inLanguage value propagates to its children?
I understand if there’s no real answer to this question, maybe the search engines haven’t specified how they work with the schemas.
I checked the output schema and can see that there are places where special characters are not unicode encoded. Namely in fields in “yoast_head_json”. For example these:
"og_title": "Only 1 question & answer"
{ "@type": ["WebPage"], name": "Only 1 question & answer" }
But the “name” entry in type:Breadcrumblist and type:Question is unicode encoded. So there seems to be discrepancies in when they’re unicode encoded and not.
Thank you @mikes41720
Thank you @sixaxis
@sixaxis I tested this more thoroughly on tastewp.
1. Images added as “featured images” are being automatically processed.
2. Images added straight to the media library by going to Media > Add new are being automatically processed.
3. Images added through the /image block inside a post are not.
Please have a look at 3).
@sixaxis Sorry I forgot to hand you the credentials to the tastewp.com environment.

https://rejectquilt.tastewp.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=wp-shortpixel-settings&part=stats@sixaxis What did you do to get it working on tastewp.com?
@sixaxis I tested downloading the Shortpixel plugin to https://rejectquilt.tastewp.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=10&action=edit but the image uploaded does not seem to be automatically compressed. Is this because I have a free account on Shortpixel (created a dummy account for testing purposes)? See this image here. The image has not been processed by Shortpixel although “Automatically optimize Media Library items after they are uploaded (recommended)” is activated in the Shortpixel settings.
@sixaxis We’ll try it today. And get back with the results
Could it be the case that some backwards compatability for WordPress v5.8.3 was mistakenly removed when updating the Shortpixel plugin for v5.9? @sixaxis
Yeah, it happened just out of the blue for us too @hiruma31
