  • @youknowriad Problem occured after 8.8.0 update. Previously I used 8.7.2 or something around that and everything was fine. I’m also using WordPress 5.5.

The slow down occurs on every browser I have (Chrome, Firefox, Edge). I noticed that during typing, the CPU usage on my PC jumps from 3-4% to around 33%. SSD, memory and GPU stays at normal values. This is odd, because I’m just typing in simple paragraph block. When I type in other apps, like Google Docs or something like that, there no such CPU usage jump.

Interesting is, that only typing is problematic. I can highlight a few sentences, even whole block and delete it in a split second. There’s also no problem in cutting, pasting text and formatting it.

If you have more question, I’m happy to help.

Is there a way to download the older version of Gutenberg? I don’t use updraftplus and I don’t want to rollback my whole website. But the editor is completely unusable after 8.8.0 update…

Same here. Delay is increasing gradually as I type. After a few sentences, the editor is unusable. Please do something with it!

Thank you for quick response! The bug no longer exists. It turned out that the problem was in the last Gutenberg update (the one where they added groups). Today new update was released (v. 5.9.2) and problem magically disappeared.

Sorry for bothering you, but I always hate when something simply stops working. I’m gonna think twice now before installing a gutenberg update. You guys do great work with your plugin. It’s adding so much quality to my website… It is a shame that it can get broken because of something you can’t control.
But again – thanks for the support and wish you good luck!
