In reply to: Main index.php constantly being hackedQuick question: do you sftp or ftp?
Can you restrict access to your account so only your ip can gain access? At least until you figure out “how” they’re getting in?

In reply to: WordPress A CMS? Wish It Was…Seasonal Content IssueThat’s getting pretty close gerbilk, thanks! What I really like about that setup is that I can keep a running draft for updates (that won’t appear in the original post, only in the newly published draft).
I’m concerned though about keeping the original permalink intact (so there are no broken links on the site when one post “expires”). Saving a post even in draft won’t allow the same permalink to be used as an already published post.
I’ve also tried deleting the old post, then adding a new post (with the old post’s content–same permalink–the new update) so that I can reach all subscribers (both email and rss), but found that some readers couldn’t load the new post until several days later (I don’t know if it was an internal server error but it wasn’t a page 404). Could be an isp cache issue, but regardless–if a post is deleted for any length of time (sometimes just minutes), it did affect some readers. So the new post has to be published at the exact same time as the old post is deleted to avoid that.

In reply to: Main index.php constantly being hackedThis is very similar to what I experienced, someone mentions Mac users being a commonality among the sites he tried helping (don’t know if that’s confirming anything though):

More info in there (webservers maybe being hacked, etc.). My problem was the filezilla + adobe 8.0 but I understand that it’s not soley filezilla that this thing goes after.
What do you mean you can’t afford to reinstall all wp files? The time that it takes? I’d delete everything and re-upload fresh copies–and double check all file permissions.
Good luck!

In reply to: I have a virus in my blogDid you clear the wordpress cache eragas (if you have that plugin installed)…or hit Ctrl + F5 a couple times to clear your browser’s cache? How did you delete the line in the index.php file…by ftp client (reuploading the file) or within wordpress?
Also see my note here about a possible computer virus being the culprit of gaining access to your files:

In reply to: Main index.php constantly being hackedDo you upload files with an ftp client that stores your site passwords? If so you may have a computer virus that’s logging those passwords and sending them to the hacker (I’ve been through this myself). All you can do is check for viruses on your computer and clean up what you find asap. In the meantime, go into your hosting account and change the password (but don’t save it in your ftp client). Or contact your webhost and have them change your hosting account password until your computer is cleaned up.
Do a quick check now: Ctrl + Alt + Delete and look up all the processes that are currently running on your computer. That might reveal a keylogger or virus.
I’d *LOVE* for YARPP to post thumbnails for related posts (just like linkwithin) but keep the text links as well. Posts only, not for rss. I’ll play with get-the-image, that might be just the ticket. Thanks for the link!

In reply to: Move Comments PlugIn ErrorWell that’s funny, it was an automatic upgrade option in my plugin area. I let it upgrade and it says v 2.0. I’ve had to deactivate it because of the problem noted above, but I’ve also had nothing but headaches on my blog with something “funky” going on that I can’t pinpoint. Blog is freezing and crashing like crazy.
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Move Comments PlugIn ErrorI experience the same problem. All comments disappeared after upgrading the Move Comments plugin. Deactivated the plugin and they all appear again.

In reply to: Archives showing “0”?elfreakz you have to go into phpadmin to work with the database
In left column, click the wordpress database link
Click on wp-posts link (left column)
Click Browse (right column)
Click on post_date (right column of screen)This will sort your posts by date, you’ll see the top entry is date stamped with:
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Change the date by clicking the pencil to the left of the row, make the date change, scroll to the bottom and click the “go” button to save.
Watch: If you have drafts sitting in wordpress, they’ll all be marked with that timestamp. I think what happened with us is that when we upgraded wordpress at some point, the drafts that were sitting in the database at the time and then published later kept the 0000-00-00 00:00:00 timestamp instead of the date they were published (just from what I gathered reading here on the forum).

In reply to: Archives showing “0”?I had the exact same problem and here is the fix:

In reply to: A Weird Date in My ArchivesJust a quick note to say I had the same problem on one of my blogs, the monthly and yearly archives listed “0” as a date that when you clicked it, you got the archives for the current month.
By doing what was suggested in here, I was able to find a post that was time stamped with 0000-00-00 in the database. I changed it to a real date and now the “0” is now gone from my sidebar archive links. Thanks!

In reply to: White Screen of Doom!A couple things I’ve done in the past to fix the white screen of doom:
– name the theme folder I’m using “default”
– Re-upload all files (usually this does the trick)
– Check the files in your ftp client, if they have ? in the file type section, refresh the ftpHope that helps

In reply to: Schedule a post to be published at a future date: Does not workI was skittish too jonlandrum. I just installed wordpress in a separate folder (and database), did a test timestamped post, saw that it worked on that host and then upgraded the main blog.

In reply to: Schedule a post to be published at a future date: Does not workAfter upgrading to 2.2.2 it seems that timestamping is now working for me (woohoo!). My host also did some upgrades in the past few hours (specifically to MySQL) so it may be that, I didn’t think to test before I updated wp.
I hope everyone else finds this fixed for them :).
