It seems there are some validation issues with the site code that may need to be addressed first, though you might not have to resolve them to successfully troubleshoot the problem. You can see some of these by using validator.w3.org. Perhaps updating your theme and plugins to the latest versions will correct some of the issues, but it might be necessary to dig into the code directly to get things lined out.

That being said, the typical cause for RPS Image Gallery not functioning properly is that fancybox is not able to load due to a JavaScript error higher up on the page or the fact that another version of fancybox is loading from another source.

You may want to try and find out if the compatibility issue is between RPS Image Gallery and your theme or other plugins through the process of elimination. It takes a little time but can be as easy as disabling all plugins except for RPS Image Gallery, then seeing if problem persists. If it does, then that would be a good indicator to reach out to the theme developer for support. If not, then you would need to activate plugins one (or a few) at a time until the problem resurfaced.

We hope this information helps in your efforts.

Disabled all the plugins and it still doesn’t work. Just goes straight to https://homesoftherich.net/wp-content/uploads instead of loading the gallery.

I tried using another theme and it still didn’t work

Based on the reported results after having disabled all plugins except RPS Image Gallery, we would guess there is an incompatibility with the Goodnews theme. The same could be true for the other theme though the only way to know for sure is for us to be able to test it. What is the other theme you tried? Is it one available on www.ads-software.com? If so, let us know the theme name (and provide a link to it). If not, would you mind trying a theme that ships with WordPress such as Twenty Seventeen?

Doesn’t work with that theme either. Does the same thing; when you click the image it goes to wp_content/uploads. Maybe is has something to do with a CDN?

We may have an idea of what is going on. By default RPS Image Gallery does not load supporting scripts unless the Redux Framework plugin is activated. This prevents the bundled scripts from conflicting with those added by other themes and/or plugins. Try installing Redux Framework and activating it along with RPS Image Gallery.

Tried that with no luck :-/

Which theme was active when you activated RPS Image Gallery and Redux Framework; the original theme, the secondary theme or Twenty Seventeen?

    Goodnews Theme

Okay I tried Twenty Seventeen and it worked. Is there a way to re-install my current theme to its original settings?

You should be able to simply reactivate the Goodnews theme and reactivate any inactive Widgets (since Twenty Seventeen) does not likely have the same sidebars as Goodnews does. There may be some additional measures that you can undertake to restore the settings but that would be the purview of the theme developer, so you might reach out to them.

So it does seem there is an incompatibility between RPS Image Gallery and the Goodnews theme. Perhaps the theme developer can also help you in that regard since we do not have access to the theme.

We hope you are able to get everything worked out. Let us know if you need anything else.
