As it turns out, the message was sent to the owner by mistake. We are not running out of space. However; I still need to get into the host site, and am talking with the owner to see what we can do.

I do have access to the back end, but I get a little paranoid when checking and deleting files in the directory, even though I have the site backed up.

The problem seems to have fixed itself. The annoying button is back, and working.

No, I am not hosting the site myself. And I have no idea what the message means. I don’t know if the parent directory is writable by the server.

It is a block called Typing Text. I am using the latest version. I am using WordPress 5.8, running the Twenty Twenty theme.
