I did it!

I searched for help the last couple of days. Today I tried finding out where I could work with csv files. First one site had me download some Office clone software which was very bloated and then could not manage to even open the template csv file. Then I found a site which said Google Docs (and others) could do it. So, that’s where I went next. After more trial and error I discovered I can open your template file and then import the csv I saved from Simple Links. Mess around with the columns and delete some stuff… etc.

In the end the file opened and brought all my links into Link Library. So far at least.

Now I hope I can remember and do it all again for the other sites which have even more links and categories.

I’ve been trying to work around with file types but seems the links won’t save from one to the other, not all of them. Anyway, not sure what is going on but I can certainly set up link libraries and flush out more links as I go along.

I bought your book. Looking forward to trying out my own plugin ideas and see what I can do. Not likely anything as detailed as this plugin.

I just found that now. It even gives you the link to click in the confirmation. Really nice work.

At the moment you should be able to export them via WordPress links.

https://yoursite.com/wp-links-opml.php – Just save that file.

You can edit that in WordPress. Go to Plugins > Editor and select this plugin. Then you can see all the code and edit it (if you give yourself file permissions via FTP).

To make it easier you can copy and paste the code into a plain text file (Notepad) then use search and replace to change the language/ words you want to switch.

Save the original file in a back up Notepad (just in case). Then load up your new text in place of the old on WordPress. Save it. Go to your site and check the results.

If something is messed up go back and use the saved file you didn’t change or try it again.

I found someone else had the same problem. Read the fix you suggested https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/404-error-when-clicking-on-event-in-calendar and now the 404 is gone. Lovely to find a plugin that I can build into a holiday calendar in the sidebar. I mostly want it for myself so I won’t forget to write about a holiday or event related to my site.

I really hope this works for Blogger in particular. It’s hard to find something reliable for Blogger at all now. Even the old bookmarklet (still works) but doesn’t have enough functions.

I was looking for something that didn’t need to be in the sidebar. I’ve seen some which float on the side of the screen. Or, I’m going to see if I can add it to the menu/ nav bar.

If not, I’m still going to try it awhile. Really impressed to find Ello included in the list.

It hasn’t been updated in 6 years. I don’t think anyone is going to add icons for you.

I was looking for something to use the Feedback option/ feature with WordPress. Too bad someone doesn’t take over this, if just for the link name.

You should be able to just delete a category from within WordPress. That would remove the category. But, you need to have the posts in another category so they won’t be automatically sorted to the default category.

I don’t mind the donation request at all. I appreciate the work put into maintaining a plugin and I’m glad to have something that works without the risk of paying for something that does not work.

I’m going to look at the premium version and see if there are features I could use (and pay for). I don’t think the donation request is at all unprofessional. Actually, it seems very sensible and professional to me. (Unless it’s overwhelming).
