In reply to: [Classic Editor] cut paste behaviourthe block editor (that I am using now on this forum) is awful. Very many people who use wordpress 8 hours a day, like me, don’t want to use it. the classic editor is, on the whole, pretty good. Exceptions being the CUT and PASTE behaviour at times
sorry separate issues, please ignore that follow up
thanks.
i’ve extensively gone through things with my hosting comppany and they are adamant its not them and that the hangining I experience is not triggering faults at their end.
as i say, it jsut seems to be firefox.
when i have the issue (I’d previsouly assuemd it was a server fault) , unitl recently i’d never tried a separate browser (Edge) and when i do that browser seems to work
the hanging seems to be associated with SOME image uploads, defintiely not specifically linked to multiple or large images. just uploading.

In reply to: WordPress Admin hangs using Firefoxi only have ublock-origin and grammarly add-ons in firefox, I suspect that isn’t the cause. however i will test with in-private browsing as you suggest.
there was one critical issue flagged up under tools>site health (1Mb of autoloaded options, from reading around this should not be a problem but i will investigate further) and two performance issues (old version of sql mariaDB and Cron jobs not running…both of which i was aware of. the latter being as an attempt to solve the issue I have)
thank you for any further insights
thank you
that setting was set correctly
The problem was with Jetpack. I had DISABLED it but, presumably, when I last had it enabled this setting was made:
https://the5krunner.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack#/newsletter
“For each new post email, include FULL TEXT”
so even tho jetpack was disabled it overrode the correct word press setting. I could chage the wordpress setting to the wrong value, save, revert and save again, but that still did not override what jetpack had incorrectly left behind
My resolutiuon was to re-enable Jetpack have set the newsletter to EXCERPT…all seems good now

In reply to: WordPress Admin hangs using Firefoxi only use standard www.ads-software.com admin functionality to upload
i do it usually from within a post when creating a new post. however the behaviour is the same if i do it from the media library upload.
Example: I might upload six images. Two might work, and the other appears only to be part-uploaded. I sometimes get a message saying the size exceeds some limit or other. This happened a few minutes ago for a 400kb file (kb). My php limit is something like 4mb per image.
as I say, I think it appears to be specifically linked to firefox

In reply to: Full post content sent incorrectly by emailjetpack, i think
isn’t that effectively part of www.ads-software.com?
in https://the5krunner.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack#/newsletter i have the setting
Jetpack: Let visitors subscribe to this site and receive emails when you publish a post=Enabled
it’s totally over priced for the value it gives.
it gave me nothing but grief for over a year due to incompatability with LSCACHE…managed to fix it now they want to charge…lol. complete joke.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Incorrect Home Page Feedthe paginated archive pages rank higher for a search on the “page I need help with” than the “page i need help with” itself. as shown if you do a google search as described above, starting with “site:the5krunner.com…..”
the page i need help with IS indexed, has internal and external backlinks; and is correctly SEO’d for the search I indicate above. I assume something is wrong with how Yoast includes the paginated archive pages in the sitemap

In reply to: [Better Search Replace] Cannot find/replace complex URLsOK I managed to solve it
my hosting comapny informed me that i used one of these character sets:
_wp1 – wp_posts – utf8_general_ci
_wp4 – wp_posts – utf8mb4_unicode_520_cii then dont think that helped me too much.
but then I tried this which worked:
https://www.stryd.com/?utm_source=tfk&utm_medium=b&
ie the & amp and ; characters (3 bits of info)
i coudl then successfuly replce that with an easier to maange string

In reply to: Slow Loading Problemyes, that link will tell you the problems.
likely you are using too many large and/or uncompressed images. but there are MANY other factors too. LITESPEED or WPSMUSH can solve some of those.

In reply to: Images I upload are blurryit will either be because you don’t have a high enough resolution uploaded or you are trying to display one of the smaller versions of the uplaoded image at a larger size.
try again with a large, hi-res image and then post the url of the image here (right click on the image and copy its location and full name)

In reply to: PHP Fatal error: Failed opening required filehave you tried updating php? looks like you might be on version 7.2 and there are version 8.X. it’s not a wordpress option but rather an option at your hosting company’s side, perhaps in CPANEL.

In reply to: [Better Search Replace] Cannot find/replace complex URLshey thank you, that doesn’t work. i’m not sure if the “?” character is also a factor? (I don’t think it is, I think the ? works OK)
I am using standard wordpress tables WP_POSTS. I have no idea how to investigate the inate structure of out-of-the-box wordpress.
just to be clear
i replace
&
with
\u0026
