  • Hey I had the exact same problem. I created the css file earlier on a different computer and it was working fine. Then this evening, after editing it in DreamWeaver on my laptop, the problem occurred.

    Turns out, yes, some kind of funky line breaks were introduced to the header of my CSS. Probably by DreamWeaver? Opening a working css file in a text editor (such as the default theme css) and resaving worked for me. Interestingly, doing the same edit job in DW did not work. Only worked in TextEdit as plain text.

    Hope it helps someone…

    Hey I’m having the exact same issue — and I’ve come across the same solution as you have. The solution falls a little short for me though.

    I too would like to link directly to a theme preview. Using a theme switching plugin, I can achieve this effect no problem: https://www.blog.com/index.php?theme=classic …or whatever.

    The trouble is, as soon as the user navigates away from the page they are on, they are back to the default theme. Is there a way to constantly pass “?theme=classic” in the URL so that the user can actually explore different pages of the blog without leaving the previewed theme behind?

    I’m using a variation of the Thematic Feature Site, which is a child theme of Thematic.

    Thank so much! Is there anything I can do to help? Do you need a link? Or list of other installed plugins?

    Andy

    I am having the same problem, but it is not localized to a widgeted area. Normally, my author links direct to “url/exchange/author/user_nicename”. In the plugin options, I selected “Replace current author link” but it does not replace the old URL with a complete one. Instead, I get something like: url/exchange/community/user/”> ..IE, no username is output within the user directory.

    I tried selecting “Create new author link” instead, but the output is still wrong. In that case I get:

    <span class="author vcard">
    <a class="url fn n" some+user="" user="" community="" exchange="" www.url.com="" http:="" title="View all posts by <a href=" href="https://www.url.com/exchange/author/some-user/">Some User</a>
    ">
    <a href="https://www.url.com/exchange/community/user/Some+User">Some User</a>
    </span>

    any ideas?

    For the benefit of anyone who has similar troubles, I think I’ve gotten to the bottom of this.

    Akismet stinks. Something I have dome from my home IP address has pulled some kind of trigger somewhere and it’s put me on their blacklist. Since I have no idea what I’ve done wrong, I certainly cant guarantee that my subscribers won’t make the same mistakes once the site is launched.

    At first I thought, well, what about all those test users you registered? Nope. I registered those from my work IP. I got home, made one post from admin, switched to a new user and was immediately blocked.

    If anyone knows of alternatives to Akismet, this thread might be a good place to start a growing list. I’m sure I can’t be the only one looking for an alternative.

    For me it all boils down to this: Why would I want a third party site to block my valued customers…
    a) without knowing the criteria by which they have been judged and blocked
    b) without the power to create exceptions for the wrongfully accused

    ?

    Just an FYI for anyone else who stumbles upon this…

    I saw this post and got nervous about installing WP Hide Dash, even though it was exactly what I was looking for. I went for it though and had no troubles at all. I did not have to edit any code in the Dashboard script.

    I’m using Role Scoper to elevate subscribers — allowing them to post in select categories only. Activating WPdash did not break this. Also, regular subscribers (not elevated through RS) see only their profile on login, as expected.

    Maybe this problem is fixed? Give it a try… dont be shy!~
