    no I didnt do the fourth step because I dont know how to upload. and now I think I might have done the third step wrong now that jinson explained it differently. *sigh* I am a techie reject.

    my thing ends with username_wordpress and database_wordpress so I put peanuts_wordpress and coconut_wordpress for database because that is the way it looks in the cpanel. Did I do that right?

    Thread Starter thediamondgirl

    (@thediamondgirl)

    Ok I did it. Now what do I do about the fourth step?

    Thread Starter thediamondgirl

    (@thediamondgirl)

    Should I close the window wp config?
    And where exactly do I go to do the fourth step?
    I dont get this.
    Step 4: Place the files
    Now you will need to decide where on your web site you’d like your blog to appear:

    In the root directory of your web site. (For example, https://example.com/)
    In a subdirectory of your web site. (For example, https://example.com/blog/)
    Note: The location of your root web directory in the filesystem on your web server will vary across hosting providers and operating systems. Check with your hosting provider or system administrator if you do not know where this is.

    [edit]In the Root Directory
    If you need to upload your files to your web server, use your favorite FTP client to upload all the contents of the wordpress directory (but not the directory itself) into the root directory of your web site.
    If your files are already on your web server, and you are using shell access to install WordPress, move all of the contents of the wordpress directory (but not the directory itself) into the root directory of your web site.
    [edit]In a Subdirectory
    If you need to upload your files to your web server, rename the wordpress directory to your desired name, then use your favorite FTP client to upload the directory to your desired location within the root directory of your web site.
    If your files are already on your web server, and you are using shell access to install WordPress, move the wordpress directory to your desired location within the root directory of your web site, and rename the directory to your desired name.

    ok I did it. Now what do I do?

    Thread Starter thediamondgirl

    (@thediamondgirl)

    should I put an underscore and prefix for the password as well? and when I do that do I go to file in that window and save it under the file name sample or do I change the name? UGH> PLEASE HANG IN THERE>

    Thread Starter thediamondgirl

    (@thediamondgirl)

    pretend for the sake of arguement, that the DB is peanuts_wordpress because when it asked for db I typed Peanuts but when i see it on the screen it added the underscore and the word wordpress. Do I type peanuts inbetween the single quotes or do i type peanuts_wordpress. By the way this happened to all of the other stuff.

    Thread Starter thediamondgirl

    (@thediamondgirl)

    ok so based on what I pasted above to you what do I delete or replace. I am scared since I know that one wrong move can mess me up.

    <?php
    // ** MySQL settings ** //
    define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘wordpress’); // The name of the database
    define(‘DB_USER’, ‘username’); // Your MySQL username
    define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘password’); // …and password
    define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’); // 99% chance you won’t need to change this value

    // Change the prefix if you want to have multiple blogs in a single database.
    $table_prefix = ‘wp_’; // example: ‘wp_’ or ‘b2’ or ‘mylogin_’

    // Change this to localize WordPress. A corresponding MO file for the
    // chosen language must be installed to wp-includes/languages.
    // For example, install de.mo to wp-includes/languages and set WPLANG to ‘de’
    // to enable German language support.
    define (‘WPLANG’, ”);

    /* Stop editing */

    define(‘ABSPATH’, dirname(__FILE__).’/’);
    require_once(ABSPATH.’wp-settings.php’);
    ?>
