In reply to: New pages become revisions of previous and go under the same ID@bizanimesh, @jnashhawkins, guys!!
I can’t believe it! I found the cause of the problem and fixed it myself!
Just today I googled a different set of words and I found a 7-month old post on the WordPress Support forum regarding the same issue as mine, just for posts instead of pages.
It’s this one: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/wordpress-overwriting-previous-post-with-same-permalink/
And I actually remembered that I had put a custom page rule in Cloudflare’s cache settings. I removed the rule and everything is working fine now!
I am grateful for you help, guys. Huge thanks to both of you!
At last, I can breathe again ??

In reply to: New pages become revisions of previous and go under the same IDJNashHawkins, thank you so much for your reply and the time and thought you put into this. I am happy my problems are so interesting to you ??
To be completely honest, and not to drag this too much, all in all I think that we indeed need to rule the script out of the equation, as far as I understand from all that’s said.
Regarding the WordPress reinstallation, I asked Siteground to do it for me and this was the reply “In this case, we have the command line tool WP-CLI with which I have re-installed the WordPress core files, please verify the results on your end.” After that, the issue remained on my end. They also asked for login details to try it on their end and their reply was “I have reviewed the issue, but I have not been able to resolve.
I suspect that it caused by the custom script that was used (as per the provided thread in www.ads-software.com), but I was not able to confirm this.
If you would like you can try to restore the application from a backup, this can be done via the Backups tool in your cPanel.
Alternatively, you would need to get in touch with a developer who would be able to assist you with this further”.
Now, let me add another piece to the puzzle, which I wasn’t thinking about too much.
2-3 days before we first tested the script, I hired a freelancer from fiverr to fix my high CPU usage because I was getting warnings about it. 2 days later he said he fixed it and indeed the CPU usage went down. When I asked what he did, he told me that he just activated Heartbeat (which I had deactivated because I had read that it actually increases CPU usage on the server).
Yesterday I restored a backup from before the freelancer worked on my site and my CPU usage immediately and the pages issue was still there.
So, yeah, everything is too messed up and driving me crazy!
Again, thank you and sorry for the long post!

In reply to: New pages become revisions of previous and go under the same IDI love Siteground and their support is excellent!
Just in the last few months it’s like they are not allowed to go a little over-and-beyond as they always did in the previous years.
Let’s hope they still have it!Thank you Animesh!

Oh, I have been talking to him all these days. He can’t imagine how the script could affect the site like this either! It’s an enigma for him too!
Luckily Siteground offered to try and replicate the issue on their side so I am waiting for their feedback now. let’s hope they find something!
Thank you again,

In reply to: New pages become revisions of previous and go under the same IDAnimesh, thank you so much for your interest.
Actually @jnashhawkins is wrong. I tried publishing new pages from a new computer and the same thing happened. The only thing that seems to help in creating separate pages is if you clear the browser’s cache before the next page.
And the first time we tried the script, it created two separate pages, as it should.
Do you want me to paste here the script’s code? Would that help? ??
Thank you!

In reply to: New pages become revisions of previous and go under the same IDAnimesh,
I sent them the link to this thread. They didn’t say anything about it.
In earlier messages I sent them regarding this issue, they said they cannot help much since it’s not a hosting problem and suggested getting help from Codeable.
I asked there, but the cost is way too high and I don’t know what to do.
Thank you again,

In reply to: New pages become revisions of previous and go under the same IDAnimesh, hello again.
Siteground support kindly reinstalled my WordPress, but the issue still remains!
I really don’t know what’s happening!
Thanks,

In reply to: New pages become revisions of previous and go under the same IDThank you, Animesh!
Well, the process was simple. Only thing I did was double click on the batch file and the script was executed. It had access to admin login and password and created those pages for me.
I really can’t imagine how it could add something in the WordPress code, but the whole thing is too confusing for me!
Thank you,

In reply to: New pages become revisions of previous and go under the same IDAnimesh, how does it get on the website if nobody adds it?
I mean, we execute a batch file and the process begins. Does that add something to the website?
I will contact SiteGround and ask if they can do this, while I wait for your reply ??Thank you again,

In reply to: New pages become revisions of previous and go under the same IDAnimesh, the script was executed locally on the PC. No code was added in my website.

1. No, the problem appears even without choosing parent pages.
2 & 3. I have already disabled all plugins AND switched to Twenty Twenty and the issue still happened! Isn’t it crazy?!
4. Well, now. The thing is that a friend of mine created a Python script for me to automatically create these pages and make the process faster for me. We tested the script and it worked normally the first time. After that we noticed that the pages created by the script had the issue we are dealing with now. I also tried to publish some pages manually but the issue still appeared. I can’t imagine how the script could have messed up the whole WordPress installation on my site. After that, I restored a backup from the day BEFORE we used the script and the issue was still there. Do you think that this script may have caused the problem? And what are the possible solutions?
Thank you again!

I have been creating my pages in the same way for the last 5 years.
I go to: Pages > Add New > Add Title > Add content > Select parent page > Publish.
After one is published, I do the same for the next one.As I mentioned earlier, every page after the first one becomes a revision, so the title changes, the slug remains the same as the first one’s and there isn’t a new page created.
Here is the screenshot: https://prnt.sc/szn6mh
So no matter how many new pages I create, only the first one will appear in Pages. And if I go to Edit that one, all the rest will appear as revisions/
Here it is: https://prnt.sc/szn8yi
Thank you,

In reply to: New pages become revisions of previous and go under the same IDHello again, Animesh. Thanks for getting back.
Yes, I am getting the problem for the last 10-15 days and it’s driving me mad!
Well, I just created 3 new pages for you.
The titles are:
Support Test Number One
Support Test Number Two
Support Test Number ThreeThey all went under the same link: https://www.thefontsmaster.com/support-test-number-one/
When I check revisions I can see the different text I put in each one.
Another thing I noticed that may be important is that every time I clear my browser’s cache and cookies I can publish a new page normally and the issue does not appear. I have tried with another browser and the same thing happens.
Thank you,

Yes, the last published pages are from before the issue started.
After that, I have trashed all the others, because they were not working as they were supposed to.Thanks,
Andreas
