In reply to: Designing sites for other but hosting them all. Also I am wondering how I add a new site with a different domain name:
So my network is called: Matt’s All Folks Sites
I have 1 site listed on my network just now:
https://www.mattsallfolks.co.uk
I want to create another one called:
https://www.gemzdanceacademy.co.uk
I have blog copier installed but when I try to create it the message is:
Blog Copier
Oops! This plugin only works on subblogs. To use this you’ll need to create at least one subblog.
If I create the create subblog link I see this:
Site Address .mattsallfolks.co.uk
Only the characters a-z and 0-9 recommended.Site Title
Admin EmailNow I want the new site to have the address: https://www.gemzdanceacademy.co.uk
Not: https://www.gemzdanceacademy.mattsallfolks.co.uk
How can I resolve this?

In reply to: Designing sites for other but hosting them all.Well I do notice that, but I am still a little confused. So if I add plugins to the network dashboard here: https://mattsallfolks.co.uk/wp-admin/network/
The same plugins will take effect on the other blogs in my network?
Is that right?

In reply to: Designing sites for other but hosting them all.Okay I have set up my main site and installed a network. However when I look at my sites dashboard rather than the Network dashboard I am not able to install any plugins?

In reply to: Designing sites for other but hosting them all.Thinking on then, would it be easier for me to set up a PARENT site with the theme etc I want to use on brand new log in details and then to network off that.
I already have a site up and running and don’t want to affect that at this time.

In reply to: Designing sites for other but hosting them all.Hi Jan,
Sorry re: 5) I want to host them all from my External hard Drive.
What I meant was if I have to install seperate version of WP for each site onto my system I’d prefer to install onto my External HD. I use HostGator for my hosting.
Cheers.

In reply to: Designing sites for other but hosting them all.Or is it easier and possible to install fresh installs of WP on to my hard drive and run each site as a total stand alone?
Assuming they’ll each have different login and access details there wouldn’t be a clash would there?

In reply to: Error messageThank you so much. All sorted now and I cannot thank you enough.

In reply to: Error messageProblem solved, the index file was different in the bllog folder. Now sorted.
Thank you for your time,
Although I have one other question that I’m not sure where to ask/post.
I actually have 2 site. Both hosted on 123 with their own databases.
Now in the general settings on each site where you’d normally be able to change the site url and site name the boxes are grey-ed out so I cannot change them.
That means that I cannot have the site titles showing as I want them.
Also on my second site: mattsallfolks.co.uk the home page shows the correct address but every other page looks something like:
https://thefoolmonty.co.uk/mattsallfolks/circus-skills-and-workshops/
Would you know how to loose the /thefoolmonty.co.uk/ prefix?
Many thanks once again.

In reply to: Error messageThanks again,
I’ve tried that but it didn’t work at all.
So file is now:
require(‘./bllog/wp-blog-header.php’)
It still loads the home page but none of the others?
Cheers

In reply to: Error messageNo, the misspelling of bllog was deliberate.
Thanks though.

In reply to: Permalinks – Do I Need 'em? How Do I Change 'emI am having a similar issue but that solution has not worked for me.
This is how my permalink settings show but when I browse my site every page apart from the Homepage uses the following permalink format:
https://www.thefoolmonty.co.uk/bllog/childrens-entertainer/ (obviously the page name at the end changes for each page but it’s the /bllog/pagename I’m trying to loose?
Below is a snap shot of my custom settings.
