Thanks for your replies Deborah & John. I didn’t realise they were 2 separate entities (.com &.org) – do you know what the reason for that is? As an end user, it’s a little bit confusing to say the least.
How complicated would it be to transfer my site across to www.ads-software.com then? What steps are involved? I’ve already paid for domain mapping to my new URL, so will the transfer have any effect on that?
Dallas.
Hi John,
Yeah, we’re definitely logged in as Admin. We created the site ourselves, so we’ve created a main Admin login, plus additional author logins for when we’re publishing under our own names. I logged out and logged back in again to double check it, and it’s definitely the Admin login – but still no visible Plugin menu on the WP Dashboard. Are you sure WordPress haven’t removed this feature for free accounts (recently) & just haven’t told you about it? A lot has been monetized since I last had an account, so I’m guessing this could be a possibility. Keep me posted.
Cheers,
Dallas.Hi John,
Thanks for the reply. From what I can see, I don’t even have the Plugins tab listed in my WordPress dashboard. Is this because I’m on a free membership? I tried pasting the shortcode into a text widget on my sidebar as suggested, but it didn’t work – all it does is displays the code as text on the site. What am I doing wrong?
Dallas.
Edit – I’d removed the existing Publication widget before trying the shortcode trick.
Worst comes to worst John, my other option could be to design a mock Instagram grid, upload it so I can link to it, and display it in my Image widget with a link to our online Instagram account. If we can’t find a solution for this, that’s probably what I’ll end up doing.
Obviously it won’t change, but it’ll be better than the current visual option.
Hey John,
Thanks for the quick response! Hmmm, interesting. I know I’m definitely using the standard widget supplied in the Publication theme, through the Themes>Customize>Widget option. The theme is designed by Automattic, but is one of your free layouts.
This is what I’m currently seeing in my Admin dashboard under Appearance>Widgets. Obviously it’s a little different to the ones pictured on your blog, and I don’t have an “Add New” button listed. Is this because I’m on the basic membership?
Sorry, I’m not very technically minded, so you’ll have to bear with me if any questions I ask might seem obvious.
Cheers,
Dallas.Hi John,
Yeah, I’m definitely using your plugin. It’s part of the Customizer in the Publication theme.
Any idea’s on what could be causing the problem? Or alternatively, could you suggest another plugin I could try?
Dallas.
Hi John,
I’m having the same problem with my Instagram widget, and I’ve only just recently created the site – meaning that I’m most likely using the current version that you mentioned in a previous comment.
I’m using the Publication theme and this is the link to my site: thefrugalgypsy.wordpress.com
Do you have any suggestions/solutions in order to get all my (vertical & landscape) images displaying as squares?
Regards,
Dallas.
