Hi David,

In searching around more, it turns out it was a WordPress core update that was adding the CSS. I’ve used the add_filter workaround from the bottom of this support article to fix: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/wordpress-6-1-update-forces-underline-on-links/

It is still strange though that activating and deactivating the SSP plugin would cause the issue to show and not show respectively.

Can confirm this same thing is happening on our Divi site. When Simple Sitemap Pro plug-in is activated, all linked text, buttons, etc. are being overwritten with “text-decoration: underline;” Deactivating the plug-in fixes the issue.

Try hitting up Flywheel support through their chat. They’ve always been super helpful on the sites I have hosted with them.

It sounds like there just needs to be a Find and Replace done on the database to update the URLs, but they should be able to help point you in the right direction.

We are using a Font Awesome home icon in the Homepage settings under the Breadcrumbs tab in Yoast as well. Sounds like we’ll need to change it to say “Home” and the replace the text with the icon via CSS.

Ah, good to know! We are also using a Font Awesome home icon for the Homepage anchor text and ran into this exact same Google Search Console issue over the weekend after upgrading the Yoast plugin. Thanks for posting your solution!
