I have now installed a fresh wordpress reinstalled the Salient theme and reinstalled the plug ins. Back up installed and all is well apart from a couple of very minor styling issues.

Prior to being hacked I was running salient and had twenty fourteen inactive. Presently running salient with twenty twelve, twenty thirteen and twenty fourteen inactive.

I have been coming to the same conclusion myself and been discussing with my host some assistance in carrying out this work.

I had everything up to date. Any idea how this could happen and how I can prevent it happening again?

I added Askimet last night and it appears on my dashboard as normal

Plugins as follows- Cant tell from dashboard which ones from active as they are missing from dashboard. I have marked next to them which ones I think were inactive

The set up had been working up until I tried to add “Visitor Maps and Who’s Online” plugin

If you are able to suggest a fix it would be greatly appreciated

would prefer to see the slider across the page width.

Suggest you do some work on basic grammar and spelling.

Site looks good – I guess you ar in a competitive market.

Since found out that a sub domain needs to run on the same cpanel as the main domain but can be set up on a seperate wordpress install. Thank you for your interest.

Loaded the plug in – lets hope this stops it.

Okay fixed the first part.

In the theme appearance set up I navigated to the theme text colors section and then went to Post Info Link Visited

I had already changed the color to 000000 but had missed the # in front. Added the # problem fixed. Still hasn’t fixed the colors below the comments box so if anyone has any ideas?

I’m new to this, as I said.

I go to Appearance then editor on left hand side of wp admin. I navigate to header.php but can’t find that bit of code.

Am I looking in the right place?

No, Don’t think so. I also tried earlier deactivating every plugin on one of my sites and that didn’t cure the error.

No, I dont think so. I have got into the habit of copying anything like that into notepad before copying and pasting into my sites. I read somewhere that was good practice and prevents a lot of dodgy code.

Never touched the stylesheets in any of my sites. All the work I have done to create my sites is simply carried out within the confines of the wordpress admin sections.
