Thanks again! ??
Oh my gosh … I am really ashamed and feel terrible now” I was convinced the Comments section is where all entries (whether comments or feedback) are shown – I’ve never ever given notice to the Feedback menu until now. I successfully deleted the spam entry there right now.
I’m terribly sorry for stealing your time this way – thanks for all the help!!!
I uploaded three images of screenshots made at the exact same time to snaggy:
https://snag.gy/OSvIR.jpg (001)
https://snag.gy/9hnnV.jpg (002)
https://snag.gy/DyPlE.jpg (003)001 shows my Feedback section – as you can see, there are two comments marked as spam, no pending comments.
002 shows my wp_posts datatable – please notice the last entry there, which shows a spam marked entry coming from the contact form and is not listed in the Feedback section
003 shows my wp_postmeta datatable – please notice the last three entries belonging to the spam marked entry coming from the contact form
Obviously, spam marked comments coming from the cotact form (which happens about 2-10 times a day) don’t make it into my Feedback section and remain untouched when I click “Empty Spam” there.
Thanks for answering, Jeremy!
Please notice that the problem doesn’t concern spam entries coming from the comments section but those coming from the contact form, which don’t show up in the Feedback menu in my dashboard, since they are normally directle send to me via e-mail. So I find no other possibility than to delete them in my database.
WP cron is enabled, so this can’t be the issue here. My first suspicion was that one of my other plugins (i.e. Cachify) was interfering with Akismet and/or Jetpack, but disabling all of them (except Akismet and Jetpack, obviously) didn’t change this behaviour. I already opened up a support thread at the Jetpack support forum, but there hasn’t been a response yet. Thank you for looking into this!
Thank you for looking into this, Christopher! It would be nice of you to give notice when you find out something new!
Any findings yet?
I think I have to specify the problems occuring on my WP-installation:
Akismet won’t delete database-entries generated by the contact form that comes with Jetpack (it’s NOT a problem with comments!). Though they are marked as post_status spam in the wp_posts-table, they remain there even after optimizing and/or repairing the database table.
In wp_postmeta there are three entries for each of the entries marked as spam (_feedback_extra_fields, _feedback_akismet_values and _feedback_email). The only way to get rid of all of these entries in wp_posts and wp_postmetag seems to be to delete them manually, which is a lot of work with ten to twenty of them each day.
I got the same issue here (Akismet 3.0.2) – and optimizing/repairing the database has no effect: The database-entries remain as they are. That’s a pretty serious issue, since it bloats up the database and forces me to deal manually with those entries. Any comment from the developers’ side?

In reply to: [Antispam Bee] Wrong notification and link on DashboardOkay, I’m gonna label this as resolved. Nevertheless, I’d really like Antispam Bee to have a notification for new spam on top of the dashboard. Thank you!

In reply to: [Antispam Bee] Wrong notification and link on DashboardAh, I see – thanks for the hint, Gerald! I think that’s how it was before the update: The total number of blocked spam was shown as well as the current count in the spam folder. This would be much more comfortable than it is now.

In reply to: [Antispam Bee] Wrong notification and link on DashboardSorry, the second comment can be ignored – I just noticed that the plugins default settings had changed and I hadn’t adjusted them to my needs yet. However, the first issue still exists – clicking on the dashboard notification, the settings page shows up instead of the comments section. This doesn’t make sense, of course, since in case there are spam comments, I don’t want to check my settings but those comments.

In reply to: [Antispam Bee] Wrong notification and link on DashboardSome other issues: Since the update, spam comments aren’t marked as spam anymore, they just go right to moderation. After manually marking them as spam, the dashboard doesn’t show the number of spam comments anymore. This happened before and after deleting and reinstalling the plugin. Antispam Bee seems to be seriously messed up.
Any ideas? People out there with the same issues?

In reply to: [Subscribe to Double-Opt-In Comments] Translation files need to be updatedHello mbrsolution,
unfortunately, there still seems to be a problem with the German translation files – I’ve sent an E-Mail to the developer and am currently waiting for an answer.
Kind regards
Okay, I think we have to leave this to the Jetpack team then.
Hi,
I noticed exactly the same problem with my blog and Facebook today. It could be that updating to WordPress 3.7 / 3.7.1 caused this, but then another thought crossed my mind:
Around the time I updated to WP 3.7 / 3.7.1 I also installed a cache plugin on my blog (Cachify). Do you have a similar plugin? It is a common issue that scheduled articles aren’t published anymore, because WP has no real cronjob – cronjobs have to be initiated by site-visits. When you are logged out and visitors only get to see the cached version of your blog, scheduled articles remain unpublished, since the cronjobs cannot be initiated.
Now, if you have an account on wordpress.com as well (and since you’re using Jetpack, you have), the connection between wordpress.com and your blog could trigger scheduled articles to be published – and maybe then the sharing routine with Jetpack gets messed up. I’m not sure how and why, but there might be a correlation.
