In reply to: textpattern database importThe WP interface inserts ‘localhost’ as a default address for my textpattern database, and its not working for me because my host isn’t accepting a phpMyAdmin import.
It is not nonsense at all, I don’t need (any more) abuse, and I never made any claim I am an expert on this – I am not. The interface inserts ‘localhost’ like my breath goes in and out: I suggest you check, see for yourself, and help if you can but if you can’t refrain from abuse.
Besides the fact I don’t know what I’m doing?
– what is this? a playground fight? I am not an expert and that is not a reason to attack me or indeed anyone else.
you CANNOT ftp a database. You have already been told that
Well if that’s the case, it would have helped if someone had explained that FIRST instead of bringing in irrelevant points and insisting I attend to them instead of the problem I presented.
If you cant figure out how to do what is a very simple task
You just said it can’t be done, and in any case why are you attacking me again like that as if this is playground fight, rather than offering to help??! What kinda place is this?
youre clueless
And you’re stupid and offensive.

In reply to: textpattern database importThe WP interface inserts ‘localhost’ as a default address for my textpattern database, and its not working for me because my host isn’t accepting a phpMyAdmin import.
Can anyone advise what address I should I use to run the WP import script, and where I should load it using my ftp client?
My directories begin:
home/public_html/wp etc
Thanks

In reply to: textpattern database importI’m keeping nothing up – I’m making an effort to restore this to what it originally was which is a simple and sincere request for help, which you derailed despite me repeating myself several times. At least have the humility to acknowledge what I said, and show me that respect: I KNEW THE STUFF YOU SAID AND IT WAS NOT THE ISSUE. I REPEATED THE ISSUE 3/4 TIMES BUT YOU INSIST I READ *YOU*!
What kinda place is this?!
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: textpattern database importNo you haven’t, you kept talking rubbish, saying stupid stuff like ‘have I installed WP’ which is just irritating, I kept repeating what I said, and its not surprising I have no [moronic vulgarity moderated ] patience left with you. I knew the stuff you said and it was not the issue, OK? Done? Good!
Now, start again, anyone else: this is what I said, but here it is again and just ignore the above waste of time nonsense:
1) I cannot import the textpattern database into localhost using phpMyAdmin
2) I need to change the ‘localhost’ entry to another address where I will manually ftp the database
3) I need instructions on how to do that, ie. where to ftp the database and what the address is for that, to enter instead of ‘localhost’.

In reply to: textpattern database import….or if you don’t understand, perhaps someone else can see what I am asking here (its all laid about above). Thanks.
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: textpattern database importBecause localhost is the default entry in the WP interface – I said that! And I CANNOT import the database using phpMyAdmin – there is some kind of time out error – I said that!
Of course I have installed WP, and of course (therefore) it is using a functioning WP database! Dude, please read what I have said
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: textpattern database importYes I know all that. Please read what I said at the beginning:
1) I cannot import the textpattern database into localhost using phpMyAdmin
2) I need to change ‘localhost’ to another address where I will manually ftp the database
3) I need instructions on how to do that, ie. where to ftp the database and what the address is for that, to enter instead of ‘localhost’.

In reply to: textpattern database importThanks, yes.
When you say ‘script’, do you mean thats what I enter in the WP import interface where it says localhost by default? And where do I ftp the database, so the script will find it?
((Those instructions are based on using phpMyAdmin to import the db, and I can’t do that.))

In reply to: textpattern database importMy directories begin:
home/public_html/wp etc
Can anyone advise me on the exact address I need to enter for a location where I can ftp my textpattern database, where the txp import script will find it?
Thanks

In reply to: Basic Design Modification – Help! Thanks.
But I’ve tried just about everything. I’ve installed WP, Textpattern, Pictorialis and several gallery applications. I’ve been searching all the forums for weeks, tried several tutorials that didnt work (dont know why), and I cant work any of it out. Some people are good at maths, English, whatever, some people are good at this, and some people aren’t – that’s me! Pretty freakin fed up with it and just need some help, I’m afraid.Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Basic Design Modification – Help!Ephemera uses Movabletype and Dockwalker uses Textpatern: the two WP competitors! You should be able to do exactly the same thing in WP. I have actually installed both Gallery and Coppermine, but they’re not the same thing: they create galleries, not daily photoblogs.

In reply to: Basic Design Modification – Help!Hi Tina – thats very kind of you!
Sent you an e mail at your site.My basic problem is – I can’t do it! I’ve tried to understand WP and how to use it, tried tutorials that didn’t work and dont know why etc etc.
I need a simple photoblog ‘architecture’ with a front page, archives, and a section for some writing. That’s it! – nothing more.
Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Basic Design Modification – Help!Well, I’m starting to conclude that I’m just not suited for this kind of work. I see code on the screen, my eyes start to glaze over, and after several weeks of this I’m now finding that I dont even go to these forums or log in to my WP admin. Basically, I’m fed up with it.
Is anyone interested in having a look at my site and getting it going? The thing is, it doesnt actually need much work. Its not difficult – for someoen who knows about this. For me, it is.
I’m willing to make a small payment for some assistance.
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: photoblog styleI find it difficult – yes, easy to put together in a basic way, but not easy to refine it and make it look great.
‘s why I’m interested in photoblog themes and layouts – I haven’t seen any for download.
