In reply to: any way to keep joomla message board with new wordpress site?Yeah, I am so over JOOMLA, can’t stand it – cannot wait for it to be done but unfortunately my forumers don’t want the forum to die, so I want to just keep the forum there for them as a link off my new wordpress site. I’m hunting around now for some sort of permalink action in joomla and will get back to you – thanks for the lead!!

In reply to: any way to keep joomla message board with new wordpress site?Hey RVoodoo – quick question, if you can help that’d be amazing.
I did what you suggested and moved joomla to a new folder. The pages seems to work but what happens is when you click around in the site, the URLS all start leaving out the folder name.
In other words if you go here to my Joomla site: https://www.theresident.net/share/?option=com_content&Itemid=140&id=86&task=view
And then click on anything there, the “share” gets left out of the URL. If I can get this site to remember the “share” in the URL, I believe I’m all set.
Do you know where in the code I need to place that? ANY HELP WOULD BE AMAZING! I’ll gladly add you to my new blogroll if you can help me. ??

In reply to: any way to keep joomla message board with new wordpress site?Sorry RVoodoo! I wasn’t clear in my first post and I really don’t want to create more clutter here because I appreciate the help immensely. So thank you!!!
So if I move all my Joomla files to a new folder, say called “forum” or something, how will that affect all the URLS for the site? The Joomla site is currently running ARTIOSef so it creates SEO URLs.
Thank you sooo much again for any help and I apologize for the conflicting threads!

In reply to: Allowing visitors to registerI figured that out, sorry. ?? Just needed to alter my .htaccess file. Now let’s see how alkivia works – will keep you posted. ??

In reply to: Allowing visitors to registerThanks so much, the alkivia looks like what I want for sure. I tried add-local and it didn’t really do what I wanted.
One thing though – just installed alkivia and it says PHP-5 is required for this plugin. How do I know what PHP I’m using, where can I check that? Sorry that’s probably a basic question, I’m self-taught over here…

In reply to: Allowing visitors to registerI’m having trouble with gravatars actually. I’d really just like to add the ability for users to upload their own avatar when they register, or any time after they register on a profile page or something similar.
Is there a community-building plugin like that for wordpress anywhere?
Thanks again for your help!

In reply to: Allowing visitors to registerAh, ok, thanks! I didn’t know how to create or find that link.
Thanks so much! After a user registers, how do they upload an avatar? I don’t see that as a profile option…
I really appreciate the input.

In reply to: Allowing visitors to registerI have it set to “anyone can register” – but then I can’t figure out how people can actually register on the site. It appears you can just fill in name and email to post a comment, but there are no register options there…thanks for any help!
