Hi, is this still an issue? I’ve a client on my multisite network, whose RSS feed settings are all set to Summary and still her subscribers are receiving full posts via the jetpack subscription feature … it’s causing her concern, and me, for that matter… can anyone weigh in and let us know?

I’ll point out at this point, for anyone playing along at home that the nav links have an error

    <div class=”alignleft”><?php next_posts_link(‘Previous Entries’); ?></div>
    <div class=”alignright”><?php previous_posts_link(‘Next Entries’); ?></div>

Had to swap the next_post_link and previous_post_link text to have them go in the right directions.. but in all this resolved fixed 3 days of hear tearing… cheers!

twentyten should be showing excerpts, at least my function.php for it seems to indicate its availability.

    So, based on this https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/excerpt-not-showing-on-twentyten-theme?replies=5#post-1777832

You’ll probably need to edit your index.php according to that comment… so give that a go…
(PS. back up your files before you make edits… just to be on the safe side)

In terms of having your blog page as different from your home page, create a page called blog (ensuring the slug is blog), and a page called home, and then go to the site settings >> Reading and where it says Front page displays – set the home page to home and the posts page to blog.

In the case of having differently styled templates for the various areas of your site – create the templates and assign them to the relevant pages from the admin menu.

Start here for an overview of what’s possible, and check in again if any of it needs explanation.

Your question may be better directed to wpzoom, the theme developers of your newsly theme, but off the top of my head I’d be checking out whether or not you have access to a widgetised area in the header or nav bar that you could just drag a search widget into, that would certainly be the easiest way…

However, if that’s not possible, have a look at the support forums for Newsly on wpzoom and see if there are people there who have wanted to do the same… seems like it would be the kind of thing people would want…

It’s a little bit hard to say for sure without knowing which theme you’re using and what it has for available settings… (could you add that information? And supply a link if the site’s currently live?

However, even without that info it sounds like you want to be using excerpts. If you go into the admin section for a particular post and select Screen Options, make sure exceprts is checked.

Then, look for the excerpts box further down the page from your main entry content. Paste a section of text/content in there. If your theme is set up to respond to the presence of excerpts your problem should be fixed, if not then having the information above would be useful so we can look at it further.
