There are no shortcodes in Parabola (WordPress no longer accepts shortcodes in themes).

We’ll provide a plugin for this in the future.

You mean the two areas that are now brown-ish?

That’s covered by the “Header Background” colour.

If you’re using the presentation page, you need to create that page.

“If you’ve enabled the presentation page and also want to create a blog page (like the default WordPress homepage), create a new page and choose “Blog Template” as the page template. Then add a link to that page in your menu(s) (if it isn’t created automatically).”

Don’t mix cryout- and mantra- shortcodes.
You’re opening a cryout-column but closing a mantra-column. Use either one or the other (preferably cryout- since mantra- will eventually be removed).

The extra 50px comes from some additional padding not included in the settings (the hint next to the sizes slider explains this).

I’m not sure what you want to set the background image on…
– whole site? That should be the background image (Appearance > Background)
– #wrapper? Doable via CSS; you’d need to not use a top menu and remove the top padding though.

This was answered in the theme FAQs:

“To make slider compatible posts it is required to add a post title (which will be used as the slide title) and a post featured image (which will be used as the slide image).
Make sure the featured images are the correct size (the same one as the slider is configured).”

Any text you type into the post will appear inside the slide caption.

You can use custom CSS to change the margin of H2s:

h2 { margin-bottom: 20px; }

Lin, am I safe to assume you are using Jetpacks’ mobile site option?

That is a totally different website view, generated by Jetpack based on your WordPress content, and not part of the theme.

You should either use one (Jetpack’s mobile site) or the other (Parabola’s responsiveness option), not both.

The count is not (yet) configurable. It’s the same count as the general posts count per page defined under Settings > Reading.

What version did you update from?
What WordPress version are you using? Did you also update it?

What other plugins have you installed? Does disabling them fix this issue?

You’re using caching and are seeing the page generated yesterday:

Turn it off and on or find the “empty cache” function.

Check Mantra Settings > Presentation Page > Extras > Hide areas.

You probably checked the “hide main menu” box.

You’ll be able to obtain that layout easier on a simple page than using the presentation page.

The presentation page has a fixed layout and changing it requires getting down and dirty modifying code.
