In reply to: Remove dates from internal links@aezazshekh Thank you so much! That was exactly the help I needed and I think all is functioning properly now. I’ll test a little more over the next few days. Serious thanks!

In reply to: Turning OFF “Automatically close comments on articles older than”I’m with Hostmonster, but I’m sure it’s not a host issue. I have my own versions of WordPress there, which I maintain. The comment box issue is currently resolved for me… unfortunately I don’t know what fixed it. I tried a variety of people’s simple suggestions, but I was traveling (between flights) at the time and I don’t know what I did. Possibly just switching comments off then on again. I hope it stays fixed. Good luck to the rest of you!
Same here. From snadra’s list, I’m using:

Snadra, did you solve this? I have the same problem.

In reply to: Comments are closed—but shouldn’t be!That was it! A million thanks! But, I’ve had this blog going for 8 years or so and have never closed comments like that. Somehow, it happened by itself. Hmmmm…
One of my favorite novelists is named Steve Stern. Thank you, Steve Stern, for your quick and correct assistance!
For the moment, I’ve gone back to the other plugin, because it will be a few days before I can act on any suggestion you may have. I’m still hoping to use YARPP, though, unless it means I have to set a featured image for every one of my 483 posts!
Jeff, sorry for the late response; I’m on the road with intermittent web access to work on this issue.
Do you mean that I have to set a specific featured image for each of my hundreds of posts??? If so, I’ll have to go back to the Related Posts Thumbnails plugin instead of YARPP. At the moment, YARPP is not choosing existing thumbnails, or the first image in a post, or any image at all, even though I did do the regenerate.
So, did I get this right? I’d have to go back to each and every post in my blog?
Thanks for your help!

In reply to: Make site a WP site, while maintaining existing WP blog withinThanks for your compliment!
I’m starting to wonder if multisite is really what I need. Can I have bobarno.com as the main site, and use WP pages so that it is more a “site” than a blog, and have a subdirectory “thiefhunters” which is the blog?
Can I use two separate themes? I’d want one for the site, and a different look for the existing blog. In fact, I don’t want the blog to change in any way.
Seems to me this makes is only one blog, bobarno.com. Or does the thiefhunters part make it count as two?
I’m dying to start on this, but I don’t know how to begin. I will ask my webhost about multisites right now, but let’s figure out if that’s what I need.
I really appreciate your help!

In reply to: Make site a WP site, while maintaining existing WP blog withinI would love some very specific instruction, if someone could offer it. My general understanding is vague, and I can’t afford to screw up my working site. Could anyone please instruct me precisely on how to do this?

In reply to: Make site a WP site, while maintaining existing WP blog withinThanks again, mbrsolution.
Why would I need another version of WP? Especially since it has multisite? That seems odd… Or is the second version temporary? Or, once I install the second version, I delete the one currently in a blog folder on my site?
Confused…

In reply to: Make site a WP site, while maintaining existing WP blog withinThanks mbrsolution. That document is helpful, but not specific enough for my level of expertise.
1. Do I need to enable multisite in order to run my site with WP, and my wp blog in its own subdirectory? I will want two entirely different templates/looks: my existing blog the way it is now, and a whole new and different look to my existing site (excluding the existing blog section). Two different themes. Does that count as two blogs?
2. Can I leave all existing files as is for now, and only move the WP core files to root (they are now in the blog subdirectory)? Will the blog still run (after I change setting in the WP general panel)? With the same urls?
3. THEN I suppose I should set up a folder ( i.e. “/dev”) and build new wp pages there to replace the existing site pages. Yes?
4. And finally, spill the new pages in “/dev” into the root.
Am I right? Am I missing something huge and important?
Thanks in advance…Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: How do I get my own avatar/gravatar on my blog?Yes, nsathees, I’ve been there and didn’t find the answer as to why the avatar isn’t showing up in my profile or comments on my own blog. I do try to help myself before bothering other people.
As I mentioned, I uploaded an image at en.gravatar registered to the email address in my general settings, and enabled gravatars in discussion settings.
I’ve also pored over en.gravatar’s help pages.
Anyone else?
