Wow, I agree with @iamfantastikate 1000% & couldn’t say it better myself. I would like to know who made the decision that Gutenberg was “the best option for the editing experience”. I would love to see that data! I would pay to see that data!
I’ve been building custom wordpress websites (100+ themes) for over 10 years now and as a custom theme dev, this is 5 steps back. Just my opinion and opinion of my 14 authors/writers!

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Yoast meta boxes not showingFor those having issues. Please read.
Go to PLUGINS > Gutenberg > Deactivate OR PLUGINS > Classic Editor > Deactivate
Gutenberg w/ Classic Editor activated breaks the YOAST plugin. You will have to choose one or the other.
IMO – Gutenberg is %100 crap anyways.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Latest version has errorsFIXED.
If you have the classic editor and Gutenberg activated, it will break the YOAST metaboxes. Go into your PLUGINS > Gutenberg > Deactivate
Everything will then return to normal.
For those others reading this – DO NOT USE GUTENBERG until it is 100% in production. There are still a lot of compatibility issues with Gutenberg and other prominent plugins.
IMO – Gutenberg is crap anyways!

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Latest version has errorsI am getting the same errors. This is happening after either the latest YOAST update and/or the latest Default Editor / Gluttenburg Updates.
Dashboard is showing a spinning yoast logo under “Yoast SEO Post Overview”
Pages & posts are showing the “Yoast SEO Premium” box but said box is empty. This is a yoast absolute break. Nothing else is causing this – just yoast.
Same here… I’ve been utilizing ultimate member on a massive community website (enterprise crm) and I have never run into issues. 4 years now and no problems!

In reply to: admin login problem due possibly from unwanted userIf you just received a notification from wordfence stating someone just logged into your website (from another source / location) and now you cannot log in… I think you’ve been hacked my friend..
If you cannot access your backend / admin – you can try resetting your password manually if you cannot use the “forgot password”. This should work but it’s been a while since I’ve had to use this method:
- Access your database via Control Panel / PHP My Admin
- Click wp_users from the left panel list.
- Under user_login you will see the list of registered users. Under the user whose password you wish to reset, click edit.
- Under the user_pass column, clear the value on the far right and replace with what you would like the password to be.
- In the Function drop-down menu, select MD5.
- At the bottom of the page, click GO.
Or if you have a database backup, I would suggest uploading that first.

In reply to: Plugin to modify urlHey – I would check out https://en-ca.www.ads-software.com/plugins/velvet-blues-update-urls/. All you have to do is provide the OLD URL with the NEW URL to update your website URL’s (media, downloads, content, GUID etc.)
Hope this helps.

In reply to: work computer not displaying styles after page updateDoes the hospital not have an IT department? This seems to be more along the lines of infrastructure / server configurations rather than website setup. It’s almost like there are specific permissions not being set (write/edit) on certain core files.
I would turn on wp_debug and see what those results yield once you login to wordpress. That will give you an indication if something is wrong. Also checking the server logs will hint towards a possible issue – but my money is on server configuration / permissions.

In reply to: Edit Static Home Page in WordPress EditorGotcha – I would look into plugins to enhance the sidebar text area so that you can build out the tabbed content within the sidebar itself. This is doable. I know Advanced TinyMCE does the trick but considering you are using WPBakery, you may want to checkout: https://wpbakery.com/addons/sidebar-editor/.
Hope this helps!

In reply to: XAMPP…. is it really so slow?Yes, MAMP is a one click install. Very easy to use and setup. When you are installing MAMP you will be asked if you want to install MAMP PRO as well – just click no for MAMP Pro.
You should not have to change anything out of the box but here is some simple guides just incase: https://documentation-3.mamp.info/en/documentation/mamp-windows/

In reply to: XAMPP…. is it really so slow?Strange.. It shouldn’t be super slow (could be your computer processor) My suggestion is try downloading MAMP – this is the best out there in my opinion.
I would think that there may be some conflicting settings within wordfence / akismet plugins. I would ask this question in the Wordfence support forum as they will help you faster than generic wordpress support. https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wordfence
Hope this helps a little.

In reply to: Edit Static Home Page in WordPress EditorOk, so my question is – why not just use the sidebar that you are currently using to edit the information – instead of a page? Both places can be edited at any time and will stay consistent across the board. You can download plugins which add wiziwig components to sidebars to make it easier to edit the content.
I am just trying to understand why not just edit the content where it is now (in the applications sidebar as a text field)?

In reply to: All my sites are down after WordPress 4.9.2 auto-upgradeOooo.. Please tell me that you have recent backups? That may be your only solution at this point unfortunately.. You are not able to access wp-admin either which adds to the issue of not being able to debug.
1. Upload your backups
2. Check with hosting provider to see if they extract automatic backups
3. Stop using WordPress Auto-Update – this is your worst wordpress enemy.Wish I could help more – perhaps someone else can divulge more.?.
