In reply to: anyone see downsides to sticking with 1.2.2 version?sounds good to me..
it took me a good two months to hack my version to get it the way I wanted it.. spam free etc…
with much thanks to this forum.. couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help..
by the way I highly recommend everyone use the permalink structure that shows the year month date and shows-the-link-postings-like-this
i have been studying my referal logs and stats etc.. it makes a big difference and is more friendly for people trying to figure out what a link is about etc…
highly recommended…
anyway,
cheers to WP and all

One of the nicest looking designs I have seen in months.. very clean, good balance of colors..

In reply to: changing permalink structure, mod rewrite, archivesThanks for the good feedback…
I guess I am just too paranoid and I am thinking that a link such as:
https://www.bestonlinetrades.com/trading-is-beautiful-simplicity/
will score much better with google over time than one like this:
https://www.bestonlinetrades.com/index.php/archives/2005/02/05/trading-is-beautiful-simplicity/
I am no expert, but I was under the impression that the closer link title keywords are to the domain root the better off you are with google indexing..
for example check out:
https://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=www.askdavetaylor.com
his site is exploding in the traffic rankings, and he always lists all his blog posts right next to his domain root..
but again i am way too paranoid..

In reply to: Announce: Adsense pluginIf its not too much trouble, would love to see this as a plug in… Ideally would only insert the google code in the widecolumn format of postings (full posting) after the second paragraph…
that would be perfect.. and would be an ideal place for the google ads can go…
would love to see it if you are up to it..

In reply to: cannot upload files from adminok thanks fixed it..
all i did was add an extra backslash / after the word images in the admin setup section (options/miscellaneous)
ok cool man.. I guess I better get my ass in gear and start building more pages…
its seems the key is to build as many freaking pages (posts) as possible… that is the way to strike it rich….
hopefully I can build about 5000 pages… but only God knows how long that will take…

Peace.

In reply to: Announce: Adsense pluginPhord..
Nice job on the plugin..
here is a follow up question..:
Since I will be having multiple authors on my blog who will not be paid for posting.. I wonder if there is a way to automatically insert the google ads within the content text on each blog posting?
the reason I need this is that I cannot ask my contributing authors to insert google ad code on each of their posts… it wouldnt be appropriate..
is there an automatic way to insert the google ad code say after the first or second paragraph of each main posting page??
or does anyone know a solution for this..?
I think google ad code that is inserted within the editorial content on the main posting page is probably the most effect advertising solution…
A good example of how I want to integrate a google block is as follows:
https://www.askdavetaylor.com/whats_an_rss_aggregator.html
he seems to be using movable type though… *sigh*

In reply to: drop down list box width in narchivesOr maybe I need to tweak some of this code?
<h2>Show Archives Sorted By:</h2>
<form action=”<?php getenv(‘PHP_SELF’) ?>” method=”post”>
<?php show_orderby_select() ?>
<?php show_order_select() ?>
<?php show_year_select() ?>
<?php show_author_select() ?>
<input type=”submit” name=”submit” value=”sort”>
</form>Forum: Plugins
In reply to: drop down list box width in narchivesThanks for the feedback… and the link..
But I still don’t know what piece of code to add to or adjust in narchives.php so that I can actually set a width of 40 characters?
What code do I insert in there, and where? For example if I wanted the author field box to be 40 characters in width…
is this the code I need to change?
$output = ‘<select name=”author”>’.NL.$output.'</select>’.NL;
If I add the attribute size=”40″ right after the “author” in the code above, all it does is convert the drop down list box into a 40 row text box showing all authors at once (it expands all the way down to the bottom of the page)
I dont know what else to change so that the drop down list box in narchives expands to the width of the maximum text.
In my dreamweaver html reference it stated that in drop down list boxes, the width of the drop down list box is supposed to automatically expand in width to the longest item of text within the list box..
but again for some reason it is not doing it …
any other ideas?
Tom
