In reply to: Amazon links being “cleaned out” of post?!Thanks for taking the time to explain it and link it for me, Whooami… I’ve not had much luck searching for things here, for whatever reason.
I hope the WP folks are aware of how frustrated a lot of people are by this… ??

In reply to: Amazon links being “cleaned out” of post?!REALLY?!
Then how do you ever put code in? You HAVE to use the HTML editor for the entire post if you do…
Then how do you see how things are looking if you’re not html-savvy enough to know the code that well? Open a “preview” window all the time?
Bleah! Really??

Okay, maybe I AM stupid… Most of those posts look like unintelligible gibberish to me.
One suggestion listed to comment out two lines of database info from wp-config.php, which seems to have worked.
Thank you. both. ??
Now my question is: Don’t I need that? And therefore, can I just leave it as is, or am I supposed to be fixing other things and putting it back in?

In reply to: Can’t access wp-admin after upgradeI’m sorry if you think I’m stupid, whooami.
I have actually searched a lot, and read a lot of threads that sounded related, and turned up nothing.
Since your pithy solution didn’t work, either, maybe it’s not actually so simple…

In reply to: Can’t access wp-admin after upgradeI deleted all the plugins via FTP.
Nothing has changed regarding this problem / error.

In reply to: New server: “cannot access database” for version updateOh, you are truly my hero!
Thank you SO much!!
Do you suppose I could re-download and re-install that plugin, or should I let well enough alone?
I do have slow loading issues (my theme designer says it’s because I have too many widgets), so I was thinking that would help…

In reply to: New server: “cannot access database” for version updateOkay, got FileZilla. Re-uploaded unzipped 2.3.1 as downloaded from WP.
Went to the /upgrade.php and got this:
Warning: wp_cache_postload(/homepages/18/d222955516/htdocs/blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-cache/wp-cache-phase2.php) [function.wp-cache-postload]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/18/d222955516/htdocs/blog/wp-content/advanced-cache.php on line 63

In reply to: New server: “cannot access database” for version updateI’ve uploaded WP several times, but of course I’m game to find out it was something stupid again.
First, I will go find Filezilla, as I am using something else (which is obviously lousy! LOL).

In reply to: New server: “cannot access database” for version updateMichael –
You have a gift for making me feel stupid, but I’ll take it if it solves the problem. I had just pasted the db name in both fields, not catching the “o”.
BUT:
Now I get this ALL NEW ERROR trying to access either the blog or the updatescript:
Warning: wp_cache_postload(/homepages/18/d222955516/htdocs/blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-cache/wp-cache-phase2.php) [function.wp-cache-postload]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/18/d222955516/htdocs/blog/wp-content/advanced-cache.php on line 63

In reply to: Problem moving blog to a new serverOkay, that’s a relief.
But *something* is still not working with the database access. See my thread here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/141997

In reply to: Problem moving blog to a new serverOy! If it isn’t one thing…
Deciding that I almost certainly did not even HAVE a clean copy of the files, I uploaded the 2.3.1 update that I had sitting on my desktop waiting — which was probably foolish of me, in hindsight, as it introduces more variables.
Now, as far as I can tell, the WP install is okay, but it cannot access the database (to view the blog or perform the update).
Should I (can I?) download a 2.3 version (which is what is WAS) and reinstall that, just to try to get the db problem resolved? I don’t think it will help, but at this point I don’t want to rule anything out…
