@takanakui thanks for your response. I have deactivated all plugins and indeed that worked. However…

I have 4 social media menu items. 2 of them do not show the name of the social medium (which is what I want, I only want the image to show) and 2 do show the name. If I delete ‘description’ in the back end in ‘menu’, the whole thing disappears: the link, the image, the name. So now I have 2 social media showing only the icon (yey) but 2 that show icon & name… Is there a way to get rid of those names?

@takanakui Hi Rui, firstly: thanks for this app! I am experiencing the same thing @seto76 has, with a tiny difference: I have a website https://www.timhupkes.com where the plugin works splendidly and I have done a website for a friend https://www.katsongs.nl and even though I use the same theme and child theme… I cannot get the images to show..! I am however able to use the pre-formatted icons (but I would love the social media logos)

@website-rob update: I have now managed to get the site back to an unsafe one. still white screen though

@website-rob That actually presents me with the white screen of death… there’s a lot in there, so I put it above all the wp stuff (below).

I have a feeling a bit of it works, probably due to cache that now I get to see;

BUT! There’s a lock ?? (Now all I need is for the site to show, ha ha)

Even after having put back the original .htaccess, still that white screen. I’m kind of at a loss as what to do now….

Even if I try the site in a browser I haven’t used yet today (or yesterday) it’s still a secure site that shows a blank screen. So it can’t be a cache issue.

@corrinarusso yes that is what I intended! Since there was no way I could make that work I thought I’d try those plugins that allows you to go from http->https per page and there aren’t many yet, it’s supposed to do it automatically for future pages. But it’s not a pretty solution, I know.
I will check if mod_rewrite is active. Am I correct in thinking that the correct code in .htaccess will move the whole site from http to https? I have a weird thing with https://www.timhupkes.com It seems https but a while back I checked it (on speed, errors) and it supposedly was slow because ‘there were still a few http pages that would mess google up, if I remember correctly, it was a speed ‘error’)

@vancle thanks for your reaction. The icon is now showing up on my website so that’s good news. The only thing now is that I can’t get back to fb page Tim Hupkes Art (which is the one I use for chatting) on the WP backend, I keep ending up at Bestial Classic Cars. I’m not sure if that is my fault, I will have to look into this later due to a deadline. Thanks so far!

@vancle I got an email that did get me further. I have 5 fb pages, all on which I would like to use your chat function. It looks like the first is connected alright (although I see nothing on my website! I have chosen to see the icon in the lower right corner)

Will keep you updated after I have connected all fb pages.

So far I conclude: things would be much handier if in WP backend one saw the message; ‘check your email for further constructions.’ ??
