I would welcome a fix Kailey (trepmal) if you can find the time. I am using the widget and trying to find where it no longer follows the new
shortcode API but I am struggling.

I’m afraid I have to agree. You do need to reduce the regularity of updates to keep your current user base.

Most of us using this plugin migrated from Better WP Security and loved it. We are developers who understand that bugs need fixing but not all bugs need fixing that quickly.

With over 50 sites using this plugin it is becoming economically impossible to manage the updates. I spend so long going round updating them that by the time I get back to the beginning you have released a new version.

It is an amazing product but you need to resolve this or we will very reluctantly have to find a more manageable security solution.

I had this problem and found it was being caused by the All in one calendar Extended Views add on. Deactivate that if you have it and see if it works for you.

Just to complete this thread.

Have now deleted all rows from the iThemes Security log table in the database. Exhausted memory error has now gone and error logging is working again.

As Joe mentions it looks like botnet traffic causing the problem.

Ah… OK well I’ve got 73,000+ rows in the wp__itsec_log table so there is my problem.

I’m not that comfortable editing the database directly.

I have a backup and am quite happy restoring it.

Is it safe to select all the rows in the table in phpMyAdmin and delete them?

Once I have got rid of them I can see what is causing all the 404 errors.

I’m not actually running any db backups with iThemes security as all my databases are backed up twice daily on our server and copied off site. So I don’t think it can be to do with the iThemes backup function.

The out of error message is constant and appears where on the iThemes security Log tab where it should be listing the 404 errors and failed login attempts.

I wonder if it had just logged too many of these errors and couldn’t display them using a query.

I’ll try your debug code and see where I get.

I can confirm something is definitely hitting the memory limit.

This is displayed in iThemes Logs:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 128 bytes) in /home/XXXX/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1941

This is in the error log:

Yes – this is definitely an issue. I can easily re-create this by enforcing the users to select a unique nickname, then go to a user (or your own profile) change your nickname and try and save.

Please do sort these bugs out ASAP as a big fan of BWPS and a donator I’d be really reluctant to move to a different Security plugin after having used it so happily.
