I also am experiencing the same problem on https://www.bciaa.org I just tried the same thing and added a generic post on the front page and then the header started to show up. As soon as I delete the post and go back to my regular page (that only has a menu, slider menu and twitter fee) then the header disappears on the front page only. Definitely seems to be linked to needing to have at least 1 post on the front page?!?
