Thanks for getting back to me.

    As requested:-

    PHP 7.4.33

    WordPress 6.3.2

    Wordfence 7.10.4 (1695657196)

I have to completely remove wordfence to get performance back.

If you need anything else, please let me know

    Regards

    Thanks for your reply

    So..

    Disabled all plugins.
Tested ‘sitemap.xml’ with search console ‘live’ test
    All worked.

Enable Yoast XML Sitemaps – live test ‘blocked by noindex’
Enabled google sitemap plug in – live test – ‘blocked by noindex’

Disabled google plugin, switched off Yoast xml sitemaps.. all works fine.

Will just have to accept that I don’t have very much control over what is and what isn’t indexed.

Will also have to accept that none of these plugins work as advertised. Very disappointed.

    @sebdinatale

So I did that and to be sure deleted all cahces and disabled all of the other plugins and..

The sitemap has been submitted ‘Success’ but…

When I fo a ‘Live Test’ in the URL Inspection. .

    I’m having this problem

‘noindex’ detected in ‘X-Robots-Tag’ http header

This is from the google search console on live URL test in ‘URL Inspection’ and in the sitemaps section ‘Couldn’t Fetch’.

    Have been trying for months!

A bit poor that google’s own plugin doesn’t work with google search console!
Have tried YOAST but although the url is different (sitemap_indx.xml) result is the same.

Is there a definitive answer for this?

    Hello Lisa,
    Comments on your suggestions …

1 – I didn’t try twenty nineteen as it seems to publish full articles on the homepage. I have now switched to Donovan which seems to work perfectly.
I switched back to Levii which didn’t so am back on Donovan. Test posts all worked and the images are all back. I guess then we can say it was a Theme issue. Thanks for the tip.

2 – I had looked at that similar post but it didn’t seem to contain any advice on how to find the problem and what a solution would be. It is also locked so can’t be added to. Hence this post.

As a point of interest, when you test the plugin compatibility with the health check plugin in… it claims that the plugin itself has a PHP 5.6 as its highest supported version….. I wouldn’t think may sites are still running PHP 5.

Anyway, thank you for the pointers all is OK.

Thank you, this has worked HOWEVER – I think there is a GDPR implication which users of this facility may need to consider
