And yes, I’ve cleared cache etc etc etc.

Also: This is a completely new barebones install. I’m not adding plugins or customizing the theme until this is resolved.

I have not been able to reproduce it myself since finding the issue.

Originally I had deselected

Display series navigation links?
Display series meta information with posts?

When I went back and reverted to default settings, the error resolved. I’ve tried deselecting them individually and then together and it performed as it should.

The upgrade to 2.8.5 is when I originally noticed it, and when troubleshooting I deleted the entire folder and installed the 2.8.6 update.

Got it working again. Reverted everything back to default on the Organize Series page.

It’s not what I wanted, but I can live with it.

Aaaaand I got it working again. I had deselected some options that evidently were vital (and therefore need to be looked at before making them OPTIONAL).

I feel so smrt for not finding this earlier.

Actually, I deleted and reinstalled earlier today with a fresh install.

I posted that I’d already tried de/activating all my plugins. Evidently I wasn’t paying TOO much attention, because it was definitely plugin related (the Organize Series plugin, if you’re dying to know.

Also: if I change back to php4, don’t I lose the ability to click-upgrade and install from the site?

1and1 says there’s nothing wrong on their end – I’ve called in three different times.

I was wrong – I am on a linux server (I was on windows with my previous host).

Using “AddHandler” had no effect.

The subtle differences between the four sites are theme- and plugin- based. Nothing that SHOULD cause this issue.

Here’s hoping I get someone at the helpdesk that has a clue…

My host recommended using htaccess if I wanted to use php5 (which I do)

using the AddHandler command does not seem to have worked.

I do have another htaccess file, in my backup-db folder. Its contents are:

Deleting all files for a complete/fresh install today (it needed to be done anyway).

I’m on a windows server (1and1 Premier Professional Package if that matters).

However.

I have four different instances of WordPress that I’m hosting and this one is the only one having problems (as far as I can tell – I’ve looked for the same things I’m dealing with).

Since the last post I’ve wiped my .htaccess file, switched to the Default/Kubric theme to make sure it isn’t a theme-based issue, and uttered a few more choice words.

Since I used the auto-upgrade button, I went ahead and down/uploaded manually.

No dice.
