I see. It requires me to be logged into wordpress.com – which isn’t an option that is even mentioned when you are on the local environment (it seems).

Actually, I thought I just solved it – I didn’t have 'suppress_filters' => false in my query arguments.

I will try what you suggest if I can understand it and get back to you.

There are several things causing the space.

To get rid of about half of it, add this to your child theme’s style.css. (If you aren’t using a child theme, it is highly recommended)

#main {padding-top: 0;}
.singular.page .hentry {padding-top: 0;}

Some of the space is a result of not having a title. You can add a title on the edit page screen, rather than having the heading in the body.
