I experience the same with Easy Appointments plugin. It sends out different kind of e-mails. Some of them are working fine irrespectively where I define the password but some of them are working only with the plaint text password.
Any idea?

Hi Nikola,
This is very strange. I just figured out the solution/workaround. For WP Mail SMTP you can set up the SMTP password also in the wp-config.php because of security reasons. The mail via link is not working in this case. However if you specify the password in the WP Mail SMTP setup then it works without any problem.

I just tried to switch off sending by SMTP in the WP Mail SMTP plugin and then it works fine. However obviously I would prefer to use SMTP also in the future.

Most of the issues have been solved by increasing the memory (see https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/fix-wordpress-memory-exhausted-error-increase-php-memory/ ) However still I get Maximum execution time of 55 seconds exceeded error for 3/15 less crucial plugins. How to eliminate that (for a none expert user)?
