Hi @adee147 — thanks so much, this is great! sorry it took me a while to say thanks. I had come up with my own convoluted solution here:

But this is much tidier, thank you. I think I would add just one line, in the window.on(‘select’) callback function, that resets user_selected_images to {} after adding the shortcode — in case a user wants to insert two of thse overlays into a page.

using the wpgeo_map_mashup shortcode, you cna get all of the points to appear.

I just posted a new bug, so sorry for crossposting — in distraction-free mode, 4.0RC1, the editor menu now cuts off the first line of text from a post. I took a quick look at the html for the editor but there are so many container elements I had a hard time verifying anything except that when I eliminated the whole titlebar, the problem went away. thanks,

ah. that was TinyMCE advanced, a plugin I’d forgotten I had. I have filed a bug there. Thank you for your help, sorry for the distraction! The new mode is great, very cool.
