I figured it out. I went to “Appearance”, then “header”. Then it asks to upload an image. I had to FIND the original image for twenty ten, however, by searching for “twenty ten” theme. not sure why they arbitrarily changed it.

When I did option one above, and did a “preview”, the widget on page two disappeared – So it seems to be overwriting the site.

I had someone make and install this widget – you’ll see it here.

Nothing happens when I do that . I think I saw this remark elsewhere. All the other pages do have an ID. This is the HOME page though.

It doesn’t have a number. It says “Front page”: ANd then I have the name of the page in it that the PAGE TITLE was given.

I guess they are really Widgets. I hadn’t thought of the distinction, as they look like sidebars in the template of “pilcrow”. Thanks. I will try the suggested ideas.
