In reply to: [Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] Stats showing post ID and not titleThis is still an issue in v1.5. In my case, it seems to be happening only to random posts. Most of them are showing the post title and are clickable, however there are a big bunch that are just showing the Post #.
It really depends on your hosting more than anything else. I’d reccomend MU in your case just for ease of use and the ability to fire off new blogs with just a few clicks. Plus, updates are really easy. When a new plugin update comes out, you wont have to update it 10 times. Plus the new WP updates you’d only need to do one time.
I’m running MU on this site: 923now.com for the main site and many of the sub sites.
It’s also best able to handle the unforeseen growth.
That’s all from the simple ease of use part.
On the COST side, it’s really nill. The hosting cost between 640mb and 64mb is pennies (or at least should be).
It really comes down to performance. Can you server/host handle running 10 separate databases? Are you prepared to do 10 regular backups?
Dont know how much traffic you plan to get, but running 10 sites on a single box could get a little dicey if they gain traction. Site #2 could get a traffic spike that causes problems on the remaining 9.
Personally, I like cloud based hosting for blog networks because of the fluid growth and load balancing it provides. I happen to sell cloud hosting plans, so I know a good deal about them. It’s not the bargain basement setup that you can get with many hosts, but it is by far the most reliable.

In reply to: help! Put the wrong address into the wordpress url boxYou can modify it in the database if you have access to it though something like phpMYadmin. It’s pretty easy and quick.

In reply to: where to setup email system!??!WordPress does not use SMTP by default. It uses PHP mail.
If you prefer to use SMTP (as I do too), you should try this plugin. It works great.
https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/configure-smtp/
Install it, setup the configuration to hit your SMTP sever, and you’ll never have to worry about it again.

In reply to: 2.8 Thumbnails are HUGE!I guess I will have to downgrade to 2.7.1. I’ve updated every plugin, and checked my theme functions. Nothing seems to stick out.
No matter what, the thumbnails dont work.
Oh well. Maybe 2.8.1 will have some fixes.

In reply to: 2.8 Thumbnails are HUGE!I dont have that line in my functions.php.
Any other ideas?
I have nextgen gallery and photopress installed. However, even when I uninstall them, the images are still huge.

In reply to: 2.8 upgrade killed visual editorI had this happen too. Updating Viper Quicktags plugin and NextGen gallery plugin fixed it.
I always check to make sure my plugins are updated when goofy stuff like this happens. 9 times out of 10 that’s what caused it.

In reply to: Blog has disappeared! You may want to just start from scratch. You could do hundreds of trial and error things, and still never figure it out.
If you save a copy of your database, themes, and plugins you should be fine.
Just delete everything and start over. Might be the quickest option.
Or hire a pro to troubleshoot it.

In reply to: New “How To” Course for WPJust trying to generate some traffic to BlogCraving.com. We are hoping that if people like the mini-course, they will continue to come back to the site to learn other stuff.
From there, it’s the standard game. More traffic to your site, the more advertising revenue you can make.
But we aren’t selling anything, so there’s really no “catch.” It’s just free information. Trying to make a little name for ourselves.
