One more new error message I just got:

Note that I’ve tried reinstalling Total Cache, but that doesn’t seem to work, it won’t reinstall.

I should have stopped there I suppose, but I decided to delete the W3 Total Cache plug-in, thinking that might solve the problem and I could reinstall it later. It not only didn’t help, I now can’t activate any of my plugins. When I do I get the same fatal error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in /home/klein10/public_html/Blog/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/W3/ConfigKeys.php on line 1329

I’m guessing there’s still part of Total Cache in there messing things up. Any suggestions would be welcome.

No advice here, and I just finally fixed this myself. Here’s how. Disabling all my plugins didn’t help, so I decided to delete recent ones completely, leaving only askimet, jetpack and captcha. One plugin, WP Super Cache would not delete, so I used FTP to go to the plugins folder on my site and delete it there. That solved the problem!

The problem was resolved with help from Zee at Theme-Time, the theme creator, who gave me rewritten code, eliminating the embedded spam. I suggest anyone using Theme-Time themes have a look at the source code for similar problems.

From the WordPress site, it’s made by Theme Time. I’ve emailed them about the problem, haven’t heard back yet. If I could edit the code, I could remove the spam that way, but I don’t seem to be able to access that code.

My problem is a little different but very annoying. I can log in to my admin page, but all the editing and posting links are gone! I just upgraded to 2.8, my site is on Lunarpages. Does anyone know a way to reinstall 2.7? At the moment I can’t do anything with my blog, though it’s still there. The only link that is still active is to Askimet spam, but that goes to “you do not have correct permissions to access this page”. I’ve tried getting help from Lunarpages, and they duplicated my problem, but say it’s not something they can do, I have to get help from WordPress. WordPress won’t help since my site is not with them. Argh!

Mentions of renaming the plugins folder: what do you rename it to? I can try to find that on my site using FTP.

    Thanks for any help!
