Moshu – embarassingly, WP installed by previous partner, now we’re no longer together – not really sure I would know how to upgrade, to be honest, so won’t try unless it’s absolutely vital.

I’ve just tried deactivating all the plugins on your suggestion – that didn’t work.

Moshu – it happens in both – I’ve tried switching between them and it doesn’t make a difference. Do you think upgrading would make a difference?

Sorry Truden – not sure I know what you mean. I can still post okay as long as I don’t put any HTML at all in the post. It means that my blog isn’t really like a blog anymore, as I can’t link to anything! (It also looks horrid, with no formatting…)

I’m using Firefox browser, Windows XP OS. WP behaves normally when I post plain text – the “write post” pages changes to:
https://www.MYURL/wp-admin/post.php?posted=true
with the words “Post saved. View site >>” at the top.

But, if the post contains any HTML at all e.g. < i >, < br > or a link or anything else, then hitting “publish” (if creating a post) or “save” (if editing a post) takes me out of /wp-admin to the front page of my site which doesn’t have the changes I have just made – a new post containing HTML isn’t published, and an edited plaintest post only has the plaintext in, not the HTML. I don’t get an error message or anything.

Just so you know, I haven’t installed a plugin, changed my version of WP or anything like that, it has just happened, and it’s driving me crazy! Do you have any ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas? It’s still doing it, and a blog without links is utterly dreadful.

I mean that I’m writing my post in notepad, copying one sentence or line (a few words) at a time into WP, hitting publish, then going back to notepad, copying the next few words, hitting edit, inserting them, hitting save, then going back to notepad, etc etc. It’s driving me crazy. And WP won’t accept any formatting at all, so my posts have no links, no blockquotes, no italics etc. Do you have any ideas?
