If your host has an Nginx configuration and you use Nginx Helper plugin then this could be the cause. Disable this plugin during the operation.

Maybe you should try for yourself with a fresh install of WP with only 2 plugins – the ones in this discussion. The only setting in WP is using at Permalinks the Post name setting.

Another fresh install on another server with the same problem – WP Super Cache Version 1.5.3 breaks Yoast SEO sitemap XML – tested on 4.4 and 5.1 version.

Tried adding the rules: ([a-z]+)?-?sitemap.xsl but with no luck – the problem persists.

Maybe you’ll investigate too.

I can confirm that on a test fresh installation with the latest WP and with Yoast SEO 5.1 and WP Super Cache 1.5.3 that WP Super Cache BREAKS the sitemap XML function of Yoast SEO. Please investigate!

Be careful with the downgrade! The update for me broke the sitemap function of the plugin apparently so I had to update again from 2.3.5 to 3.0.3!

The downgrade breaks the sitemap function of the plugin and will not generate sitemaps anymore! At least this happened to me with a downgrade from 3.0.1 to 2.3.5 – everything seemed to work fine but surprise in Google Webmaster Tools!

I confirm that also. I received a virus notification from Hostvision webhost in Romania and I just scanned the official WP installers on a Mac (Clam Xav) and Ubuntu (ClamTk) – I received the same virus definition: BC.Exploit.CVE_2013_5329 in wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/media/moxieplayer.swf

And worse – I discovered this also on older installers.

So where is the issue? Now my webhost is blocking the ZIP installer.
