Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Redirection to suspect siteThat is the site I am talking about, but visiting it just now did not trigger any redirection. The redirection I am talking about occurred not when visiting the site but when looking at the Tools option in the new version of WordPress, i.e. while logged in as Administrator. If either clicking on one of the options – I think it was Your Profile – triggers a redirection, or if it can occur without clicking on a link, I would be very concerned.

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Import fails to bring in postsOriginal message – lost in correction:-
I have two WordPress blogs and want to transfer all entries from one to the other. I have now tried three times with exactly the same result:-
1) WordPress exports to a .xml file on my home computer.
2) The users are imported into the new site, or on the second and third tries matched with the existing ones.
3) No posts appear at all.
What am I doing wrong?
NB The first site uses version 2.8, the second site uses version 2.7. (When I try to upgrade the second site or install the phpMyAdmin plugin, there is a fastCGI error.)
The first site is https://www.greenfriends.org.uk/wordpress/
The second site is https://finstock.org.uk/wordpress/If someone can help I can supply any additional information they need.

In reply to: Creatinga databaseIn the end I gave up and asked Install4Free to get WordPress working. I am now up and crawling, but it would have been nice to learn what I missed. The documentation clearly defeated this one!

In reply to: Creatinga databaseNow I have created a MySQL database on Webstrikesolutions. But I cannot follow the rest of the instructions.
Currently there are three databases: one with my domain name, which has no tables, another called information_schema with 16 tables and a third called test, with 10 tables. MyPHP Admin version 2.7.0-pl1 is running.
The instructions ask me to click the Home icon, “then click Privileges. If a user relating to WordPress does not already exist in the list of users, create one:
Click Add a new User.”Unfortunately, there is no button for either operation. The screen shows two columns, one headed MySQL the other phpMyAdmin. Under the MySQL column, it shows:-
Create new database:
No Privileges
Show MySQL runtime information
Show MySQL system variables
Show processes
Character Sets and Collations
Storage Engines
Databases
Export
Import
Log outIn the phpMyAdmin column there are:-
Language :
MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
MySQL connection collation:
Theme / Style:
phpMyAdmin documentation
Official phpMyAdmin Homepage
[ChangeLog] [CVS] [Lists]Where do I go from here? NB Neither the words “Create database” nor “No Privileges” are not clickable; but there is an icon to the right which takes me to the syntax for Create Database.

In reply to: Creatinga databaseThank you. I made my way to the control panel (this is at Webstrikesolutions) and have ordered a MySQL database. More when I receive the instructions for using it.

In reply to: Creatinga databaseHaving searched through the instructions for help, I am looking at the Using CPanel page. How do I “Login to [my] website cpanel”? What is the control panel?
