    Thanks so much, Kartik!

I realized afterwards that the image was included, even though the ‘error message’ suggested otherwise. I judge it rather a feeble practice for WordPress to introduce this feature unannounced, and then have such a clumsy way of informing the blogger what is going on. The images I chose were merely illuminative, to help break up the text, and I thus left the box blank. But I’ll experiment a bit.

    Thanks again, Sarah.

I logged in with WaveBrowser (instead of AOL Explorer), the Categories appeared, and I was able to mark one. Don’t know why it suddenly stopped working, but it’s probably time I gave up AOL anyway!

    All the best, Tony.

Well. some progress! I was able to perform a ‘Quick Edit’ on the Post, and click on the boxes I wanted. (There is no capability for adding a New Category there: I would have to go to ‘Categories’ to do that.) Thus I have been able to add Categories to the Post. When I go to Edit, and try to invoke ‘Categories’, I can briefly see the correct ones ticked before the panel flicks off again. So I have a workaround that I had not used beforehand.

My website is https://www.coldspur.com. I don’t know whether that helps you without getting into administrator role.

Thanks so much for your help, Sarah.

Thanks, Sarah, but that doesn’t seem to work. I have finished the post, and have clicked on ‘Post’, but the Categories list still flashes, and then disappears. In ‘Block’ mode, ‘Categories’ is not listed.
    I must have accidentally reset something, but I don’t know what . . .
