Thanks for the feedback but after thinking about it and testing various options I have decided to use the native WordPress image import and thumbnail system to insert thumbnails into the posts but to make them link directly to the relevant images in WP Photo Album Plus. This seemed easiest and gave me maximum flexibility in terms how the thumbnails looked, the smallest file sizes for speedy page loading, but still linked to all the WP Photo Album Plus goodness.

I think I expressed myself very poorly and also did not fully understand how WP Photo Album Plus generated thumbnail images.

Just to be clear:

As an example I insert a single photo into a post using this code:

Is it true that the thumbnail for this display size (200px) is generated each time it is shown and not stored permanently?

It seems to be fixed now using Google Libraries. I am still configuring my photo archive so I will let you know if I run into a any snags by the time I finish setting it up..

I got Lightbox 3 to work and function in the slideshow just like I wanted it to, by installing another plugin called “Use Google Libraries”.

Still not working.

I installed and activated Lightbox 3 and deactivated Lightbox Plus, I set set the link from thumbnails to ‘the fullsize photo in a slideshow’ (VI-2) and VI-8 to Lightbox.

When I click a photo in a slideshow it just opened to the photo in a new window (no Lightbox).

I deactivated Lightbox 3 and reactivated Lightbox Plus and under identical conditions the Lightbox effect works correctly but only on the first photo I click. If I use the slideshow controls to advance to the next photo and then click on it I just get a full size photo in a new page. If after advancing a photo in the slideshow I refresh the browser page I get a Lightbox effect but only for one photo. The next photo opens in a new window.

I can get a Lightbox effect on every photo but only if I refresh the browser window every time I advance the slideshow to look at the next photo.

I tried everything but cannot get this to work.

I installed 4.4.8, cleared all the caches on my site and I am still having the same Lightbox problem.

I have it set so clicking a thumbnail opens a slideshow (VI, 2) and it is set so clicking the slideshow should display a full size image in Lightbox (VI, 8). I have Lightbox Plus installed.

Clicking the first image that is displayed in the slideshow opens the image in Lightbox like I want. I advance the slideshow one image by clicking the ‘Next Photo’ control at the bottom of the slideshow, now when I click the image in the slideshow it opens a full size image on it’s own in a page, Lightbox no longer works and does not work for all subsequent images in the slideshow.

What seems to be happening is that Lightbox is only triggered for the first image displayed in the slideshow.

This behaviour and problem is not affected by either turning Ajax (IV,33) on or off.

Lightbox Plus is working fine when I do not use the slideshow. If I set the thumbnail to open directly into Lightbox it displays OK and I can advance to the next image from within Lightbox. But this is not the behaviour I want. I want thumbnails to open into a Lightbox and for each slide of the show to open, when clicked, in a Lightbox display.

Any ideas?

I solved the problem.

I noticed I had the ‘Use Ajax’ (IV:33) ticked.

When I unticked this box the problem went away and Lightbox loaded OK.

That second suggestion works really well.

here is another question/request.

I name my photos with a sequence number, for example:

Photo 1
Photo 2
Photo 3

When I select to arrange in album by name what happens is that after ‘Photo 1’ is listed ‘Photo 11’, then ‘Photos 111″ etc etc. Is there any way to fix this so numbers are read by the plugin like a human would read them or can you suggest a way to produce a name sequence that would be displayed in the correct order?

As usual almost everything I wanted was in front of me but I just could not see it. Thanks so much for your help. This is a fantastic plugin. I have sent a donation. Keep up the good work!

One more feature request.

A random photo widget, one that changes the randomly selected image every time you reload the page.

I have been struggling with how to change the Submit button appearance on the Submit Link Page. I am a novice at all this. Would you mind telling me how you changed your buttons so I can copy your technique. Sorry I can’t help with your problem.
