In reply to: [Advanced Classifieds & Directory Pro] yoast seo compatability?well yes maybe i meant ‘term_title’
i am sure it worked ok with ‘term_descriprion’ before but if you say it wasn’t supported maybe it didn’t.
although that begs the question, why not also support term description aswell?
for seo purposes this would be a better idea.
i have since manually wriiten in description anyway to try recover seo rating.
thanks

In reply to: [Advanced Classifieds & Directory Pro] yoast seo compatability?in yoast. Under ‘categories’ or ‘location’ i was using %term% in the title of page.
also using %term_description% in the description of page for SEO.
this was working.
now, if i esit a category or term it shows what i would expect. But in reality the title is fine wwith %term% but the %term_Description% is actually output as exactly that. Not the teem description text.
therefore our ranking for seo and keywordsnhas been deopping dramatically as at first it is not obvious that it is not working.
thia could be your plugin or yoast although sems to gave happened when your plugin had an update as far as we can tell
@tongpang
Actually, i thought that was part of ACADP plugin!
if not it may be part of the theme I am using ‘larryslist’
or quite possibly part of one of the plugins I use!firefox – tools- web developer – inspector doesn’t seem to give much clue to what produces that exactly
try enabling larryslist theme on your site and see if that does it (even if briefly to prove the concept)Tony
I use this for most ‘popular’ or most ‘viewed’ ads on my site
[acadp_listings orderby=views listings_per_page=15 view=grid]
(view page here https://thecoolads.com/most-popular-free-ads-on-our-uk-classified-site/)
Hi Erodeus,
Just wanted to say, if you use google+ and connect WP for sharing then ads seem to get indexed almost immediately.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Advanced Classifieds & Directory Pro] Add Multiple Categories Per ListingHi,
You may want to investigate this method.
I did it accidentally and realised the ads were appearing (in the back end at least) in more than one category.Go to ‘classified and director>all listing’
choose at least 2 ads by ticking boxes (if you wanted to change just one ad, you may need to make a dummy ad for this purpose)
choose to ‘edit’ these ads.
When you get the multiple edits to come up, then select categories as you need.this way the backend shows the ads as being in multiple categories
personally, I didn’t want this so just edit them out again, so I never tried if it was true for the front end.
Maybe post here if it is true.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Advanced Classifieds & Directory Pro] Bulk Import via CSVyou can do it by directly editing the database.
I downloaded the file in CSV then added entries as needed
generally, if you get it wrong it won’t let you upload the CSV file
(but don’t blame me if you break it!)but yes, a CSV import option in the plugin would definitely be good especially initially for categories and locations

In reply to: [Advanced Classifieds & Directory Pro] Replies to Ads not workingHi, thanks for the reply.
It seems it was some problem with SMTP Mailer plugin. it was not sending this type of message, although it was sending others! it had also worked in the past.
No idea why though, using another SMTP program and all is working now thanks.Tony

In reply to: [Advanced Classifieds & Directory Pro] Replies to Ads not workingFurther investigation has shown that our contact us page isn’t working either.
Testing the SMTP mailer plugin it works fine.
All auto messages from ADACP work for placing ads, signup etc.
Main problem being the reply to an AD not working as nobody can be contacted.
Plus nobody could report this from our contact us page either!
Anybody else getting this (or had it before)?I will post the solution here so others can find it easier
follow the steps under the How to use Publicize with your Custom Post Types section here:
https://jetpack.com/support/publicize/
You can add the code to your site using a plugin, like this:
No, it seems to be a bug, becasue other links in the email work fine
just the renewal link does not come out as a link.
plus when people renew they seem to be copy and pasting the link given to get to it.Tony
ok.
Thanks, at least not anything i am doing wrongForum: Plugins
In reply to: [Advanced Classifieds & Directory Pro] send mailOn my site i had this problem.
It seemed to be something to do with using a third party email system, rather than the system used by my hosting company.
Changed to using my website hosting company address (as in the URL) and all is now working fine.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Advanced Classifieds & Directory Pro] suitable for matrimony service?I uploaded all the UK towns/cities directly into the database
there are files available (free) on the internet that hold all countries and cities, it should be possible with a little work to import these directly
I did however have to add the relevant county (state or province) manually to the file before upload.
If you upload say the countries file separately first, you can then find the allocated number for each. You can then in .csv file add this to the column for each county, state, province.
Then once that is uploaded you can then get the county, state, province code for each and allocate to correct column for the cities and towns in each
It sounds complicated but when using open office etc it is relatively easyAlso if you get the file completely wrong it wont let you upload it
That isn’t to say you can’t make mistakes though !
so always save the original un-edited last working file in caseIt worked for me and saved days of work, more if i was doing more than just the UK
