In reply to: Need to edit style and can't figure out how?Thank you very much for your help and understanding of why it was different. Based on that I have now assigned URL’s to the other options and so they’re too now looking different however, Ive inserted the same CSS for the relevant items in the Editors CSS file and they aren’t changing.
I do want the whole menu to be the same.
Any ideas?
Thank you

What I am trying to achieve: IMAGEHello Everyone,
A couple of weeks back I decided to go to Paid Hosting. Since doing that I have hit a wall. I really want to try and get further with my site but just can’t seem to work this out my self(unsurprising since I have virtually no experience in writing code and wordpress) it’s all a blur.
Can anyone look at the ‘What I am trying to achieve‘ image and be willing to give me some steps?
I have tried several plugins but I don’t know how to enter shortcodes as everytime I enter one it doesn’t change my page.
I don’t know what files to edit or what to write in them.
I have even requested help from the theme author but, NO REPLIES.
I’m really losing faith in this idea I have as I just can’t make it happen.
Thank you

In reply to: How to use shortcodes properly? Thanks for the help, I’m scared to try things since I keep breaking but I have restores I guess.
I’m learning HTML, PHP, CSS etc but just started. I want to do this as a career(web dev) and I will learn it however, this site is for my own personal use, a gaming community that puts on events and I don’t want the community to have to wait for me to learn all this before they get to use what is essentially a new look site going from free hosting to paid hosting.
I have my phpbb forum waiting(thats not going to cause me much headache but I just want a few simple-ish things on my current homepage then I have 3 other wordpress pages to do. One page at a time though, WP and my front page is nothing like editing pre-written HTML and CSS, which is what I am used to on my freeforum. Php, well I’ve never seen it until WP and I went paid.
Thanks again

In reply to: How to use shortcodes properly? Thanks Rhys,
I just got support from my host to fix the problem and its happened again. What the hell is wrong with this? My site is unreachable now. I can’t even get into the WP editor and this is the 3rd time!
I entered <?php echo do_shortcode(‘[shortcode]’); ?> into functions.php and my site is bloody broken.
error
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/themes/nerocity/functions.php on line 15Seriously, can I not just put in a request for someone to help me do this. I’m trying to run events and can’t with no website ??
Apologies I’m just getting frustrated.

In reply to: Big steps for homepage completionThis is my first and only page so far Andrew. I do have a phpbb forum installed and can link to it very soon but not yet, the plan is to integrate login with that too so it all acts as single site login. I plan on having a couple more wordpress pages in future that I’d like to make use of the menu list for navigation but I’m a long way off that.

In reply to: Big steps for homepage completionI haven’t got anything for this yet. I have been looking at reg plugins but haven’t committed to any yet.

In reply to: 2 headers or index? The original header.php doesn’t pick up when renamed
The new header-custom doesn’t pick up at all.
I found the call to php in the home.php file and this was exact. Not an issue with that

In reply to: 2 headers or index?Regarding the title I am basically asking is it best to aim for 2 headers or try and get the image slider in the main part of the page?
