Smarter navigation worked well for me until i started trying to cache the site with plugins. Both W3 TC and WP super cache both broke the smarter navigation. Adding the referal to the url by modifying the plugin made navigating the single pages by custom tax work, but still wouldn’t work with cache plugins. The solution for me was to disable all caching and use cloudflare. Now it’s all finally working. Just letting you know in case you (or others) hit the same wall i did!
