If you can’t find the problem t might be the browser your user’s use. Some browser’s aren’t so perfect. Especially if it is ony a couple of user’s having the problem.

if both sites are hosted on the same account you can try WordPress MU Sitewide Tags. This plugin creates a third site that indexes post from the other 2 sites. All I did was copy the search box html code from the index site and replaced the theme search box code with the indexed site search box code. This way you can edit if need be.

I use duplicate themes on my site. The main blog is the original and the sub domains is an altered copy. I do this so that I can take things from my main blog and code them into my sub domains. Right now I use it effectively for the search box but probably would require additional coding for some thing that changes often.

Not sure if it’s right for you but I use cets_blog_defaults plug-in. It allows you to set defaults for new blogs including themes and plug-ins

I copied The html code of the search box in the results blog and pasted into one of my themes with a ref=nofollow. It works good you can search all of your sub domains for post. You can chose to have the post sent to your main blog or to a separate sub domain. As far as I know it doesn’t have a administer feature to approve export to the main blog. Contact the creator I am pretty sure he can add the feature if you got a little money to spend. I use nofollow to stop Google from taking the content as duplicate content. You should consider the search engine results of posting duplicate content on 2 sites. You can try it out as a search box at one of my sub domains like [ redacted ] It is not used on my main site because my main site is a duplicate of the same theme minus the added search box. In this way I can add links to the footers of my sub domains with out adding them to my main blog
