Hi Brandon, yes I used the youtube shortcode and that explains why only certain pages went down. Unfortunately those were my high traffic pages so I noticed a 50% drop in traffic which alerted me to the problem on the site.

I have taken off all the youtube and vimeo shortcode now as I have the plugin deactivated. I’m using wordpress’s core built in youtube url to video conversion.

I got the same issue appearing on the plugin settings page in WP dashboard. John please add the patch needed cos this plugin rocks. Least it does still work in the meantime.

On a live website disqus does show social login options including facebook, twitter and google plus. Maybe the problem could be if your not logged into disqus under plugin settings.

I found the problem plugin. It was WordPress SEO by Yoast. In the the plugin settings I had checked the box under Permalinks > Permalinks Settings > Redirect ugly URL’s to clean permalinks. (Not recommended in many cases!). Those are Yoasts’ words in brackets.

Unchecked that option in the plugin with the plugin still active for SEO stuff and all is back to normal. Thanks for the help.

@eclisham sorry I haven’t tried again I deleted the plugin and just used the embed code which was fine at the time and still working as you can see on this page

I see slide.com no longer lets you register to create a slideshow anymore though and the link to slide from https://www.slide.com/arrange?cy=wp no longer works. So looks like slide is no longer an option for wordpress users ??

Can you suggest anything else?

@ditesco Thanks so much for that. I use the Cloudflare service and unchecking the JS autominify function then purging the cache has brought back my visual editor ?? I’m on wordpress 3.2.1

i had the same problem Rob and so I just use the url in the address bar instead of the shortened share link youtube provide. I see the plugin provider Vladimir said 2 weeks ago to user Mark Tyson asking the same question:

This is not supported yet, you should just use the youtube.com URL from your browser address bar.

So until Vladimir changes the Smart Youtube plugin it is all we can do.

@donncha for a blog that has between a 100-200 posts:

1. How many minutes in preload do you recommend?
2. Should I set it to preload all posts?

I have been using Easy Adsense on my blog for 1 year now, but uninstalled it today.

It has been annoying over the year with every update that I have had to place my adsense code back in to replace the authors default. But it worked so I just did it.

This time however with version 2.95 I had a chitka image ad placed on my homepage in the widget bar that I couldn’t get rid of. Sorry Manojtd but I now code the adsense into my theme directly now because of this.

I would say the CyberCoded.net HTML to WordPress website option was the best I think I will give it a bash cos at the moment I have my old .html site with a new section called blog with the wordpress insatllation for that, but would also like to upgrade my old homepage to wordpress functionality but not lose all the Page Rank and link juice

I would recommend 2 Plugins to choose from:

1. W3 Total Cache
2. WP Super Cache

To me W3TC has more functions for good speed ranking including CDN option.

@smalldesignlink I followed option 2 recommended by @gjames for another site I had originally in .html So I have to still manually play with the html code for some of that site whilst the blog section is automatic through WordPress.
