In reply to: Automatically switch locale depending on browser settingIn the past, I have used Maxmind’d GeoIP data for this tye of purpose. https://www.maxmind.com/en/home
We used it for an ecommerce site, not sure if there is a better way currently because it has been a few years.

In reply to: Question is there a website to test the speed of my website?Not a weird question at all, it’s one that every web admin should be thinking about.
I like https://www.webpagetest.org/
Also https://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/ -its a little older, but offers good suggestions.

In reply to: Word press set upIt sounds like a fine way to go. I recommend this course, or even just building the WordPress site on your local computer. Either way is fine. When it comes time to transfer the domain name, it will take some work to update links and settings in WP, but this is unavoidable if you want to build it and then launch it later. (which is the best plan anyway)

In reply to: Word press set upYou can use multisite, but in my opinion this is a complex setup if you are a beginner.
WordPress is an application that runs on your server. It needs to be installed in a folder, and connected to your database. The only “account” is the one you create inside it once you have it installed.
Unless you are talking about a wordpress.com account?
Let me describe what I think you are doing, and what I think you want. You have WordPress installed on a hosting account and it is accessible at https://someurl.com
Now you want to use it at https://someotherurl.com -you need to download and install it in this other hosting account. You can put it in a subfolder while you are building the new site, or build it on your local computer. Were you able to follow the tutorial I linked above?

In reply to: Problem with display box backgroundYou should be able to use the editor in WP directly. If you cannot save your changes there it is most likely due to file permissions on your server.
Alternately, use an ftp program like filezilla to connect to your web server, then use a text editor like sublime text 2 or notepad++ to edit the CSS file.
You could also use filezilla or your website control panel to change the file permissions that would allow editing via WP admin, which is probably the simplest method for you. I have a couple WP tutorials on my site, and they would probably open your eyes to a lot, at least how to get things done in principle, if not actual solutions to your exact issue.

In reply to: Can't get on my site or Admin panelThat sounds like a major pain in the you know what. ??
I think the first thing I would try is renaming the plugin files, or deactivating the plugin directly in the database.
Take a look here, this guy has the right answer: https://www.ostraining.com/blog/wordpress/disable-a-wordpress-plugin/

In reply to: Problem with display box backgroundDany,
First of all, I like your site! There are several ways to accomplish what you want. The div that controls this section has a class assigned to it with style info. This needs to be edited in your theme’s CSS file.Here is the class definition as it stands now:
.instructor-display { border-radius: 4px; -moz-border-radius: 4px; -webkit-border-radius: 4px; border: 1px solid #000; box-shadow: 0 0 5px rgba(0,0,0,0.3); margin-bottom: 25px; background: url(images/display-bg.jpg) no-repeat; width: 970px; margin: 0 auto 15px auto; }
The important bit is the background: url(images/display-bg.jpg) no-repeat;
That “no-repeat” needs to be removed, it is what is preventing the image from tiling down the page. But simply removing that may not have the effect you want.
I have made you a short unlisted (private) video explaining what needs to be done to fix this properly: https://youtu.be/Tyd2mTmpIA8
I hope that helps, let me know if I can be of further assistance.

In reply to: Word press set upYes, sorry it took me so long to respond. Just download WP and work with it wherever/however you like. That is the beauty of Open Source Software.

In reply to: How to make my submenu's drop down rather than horizontalSabby,
You are talking about the sub of subs I believe. You have Tales from India as a sub menu item under Pursuit of Love.Go to your menu manager, and see if you can drag Tales from India slightly to the left, and drop it so that it is at the same level as Pursuit of Love..

In reply to: Word press set upMike,
Glad to hear that you are going to use WP for your main site. Its a good decision, I don’t think you will regret it. You should not need to register an account to use WP. Just download the software and start working with it.No need to transfer your domain either, if you are with a good host, you should be fine running WP on their servers.
I would build the site on m,y local computer, then when it was ready to go, upload it and import the database on your live site. I have a tutorial on installing WP on your local machine: https://xcartguru.com/tutorials/wordpress-tutorials/installing-wordpress-on-your-local-machine/
You can also build it “in the wings” directly on your live server, just set it up in a subdirectory or on a subdomain while you prepare.
