Thank you so much for your help.

I looked at the content in the popup box, it was just a Gravity contact form but it had Captcha included. I disabled Captcha and the problem has gone away, pages are loading quickly now.

We can use Akismet to deal with spam.

Popups working well again.

I have re-enabled it on the home page.

Through other sources I understand that it is due to the modal not triggering the Quicktime script. It happened on about 3 devices but the modals have now been removed and we are using inline video instead.

Thanks but that doesn’t really help when the user adds a new one, they would never do this. I think I will leave it for now.

You will need to use your css file to make this work. For example:

.menu ul li {float:left;}
or
.menu ul li {display:inline;}

This happened to me recently. I had forgotten to add the wp_footer(); hook. The admin bar hooks onto it.

You have so answered the question! I had the page single missing from my theme which of course is where the correct code is.
